Unknown Leak

My 2014 GT/CS Premium convertible was stored since last November in the garage (properly of course) No leaks. Brought it out about 3 weeks ago - no problems. Last Saturday I had it running parked in the driveway for about 45 minutes - was transferring my Sirius to my new Pioneer 8100NEX set-up and playing around with the navigation a bit. Pulled in the garage - the next morning there was a spot about 2 inches in diameter in the middle of the front part of the engine. My husband thinks it is oil. And there was a matching spot on the driveway. Looked just like a wet spot that wouldn't dry. We got the same sort of look when our 2001 Chevy S10 radiator sprung a leak and needed replacing.

The only time it will leak and only about that much is if you have driven it long enough for it to warm up. If I drive it to work and home - round trip 2 miles - no spots on the road or the garage. (we put paper towel to see. But if you drive it around town for 15 minutes you'll get the leak. It is going into the dealer on Monday - thoughts to what it might be? Should I be worried it is something serious? Still under warranty. Just seemed strange that we drove it on and off for 2 weeks and nothing and then all of a sudden - this strange leak that really has little color. TIA

From your description, it sounds like it could possibly be coolant. That's generally a bit more slimy than oily feeling.
Have you looked around the front of the engine for signs of leaks? If it's a relatively new leak, there may be no signs that it has been leaking. You would have to catch it in the process of leaking.
Also, sounds like the leak is rather small so if it was coolant it probably wouldn't have lowered the visible level in the reservoir yet.
There is a TSB 14-0212 out on the water pump hose and check valve but I think that only applied to the 3.7L, not the GT.

Water pumps have a TSB on these engines. Mainly for noise but, it's on the front drivers side of the engine, look there. Either way, it's a warranty item if it is actually leaking. Ford coolant is pink. Give it a little taste (and I mean a little, it's still poisonous in quantity) if it tastes sweet, it's coolant, oily and disgusting...it's oil.

LOL - I'll bet she doesn't do the taste test. I wouldn't.

Thanks guys. I don't know if I would taste it - but my sense of smell is less than reliable. LOL

We took it to the dealer yesterday who promptly told us if it was something we did it would cost us 56 dollars just to look at it - Geez! It was their fault - when they changed the oil last fall before we put it away for the winter they didn't tighten the oil filter. So....it had been leaking since I had been driving it. My husband thought the leaks were his truck. So new oil change and filter and of course no cost. We still have paper in the garage to see if it still leaks - they said they cleaned up all the oil so we shall see.

Well at least they owned up to it and didn't try to say someone must have tampered with it after they changed it.

Just one reason I change my own oil. Glad to hear that it is resolved.

I had my 14 gt also leaking. I noticed it about 4000 miles after I bought it brand new. Brought it to the dealer and they said the same thing, loose oil filter. They cleaned it all up and made sure it was tight. After 500 miles I noticed it again. To cut a long story short after they put dye in the oil and bringing it back 2 more times, it ended up being the oil filter housing.

Is that TSB on the oil filter the sound that I hear after start up? I attached a link below? Should I bring it to the dealer?
