Thinking about ditching the stripes

Not so sure I want to keep the stripes anymore.

Looking to get a GT500 spoiler soon, might get them removed once I do.

I actually really love the stripes on your car , but those are really personal touches. The 13-14's look great in so many ways.

All the effort that went into striping your car, I would keep em. It compliments your ride.

You may consider the lower stripes removed. Still leaves the aggressive look. Not so much black covering up the front upper and lower facial.

That looks killer, I think i'll remove the stripes off the front bumper.

The car was already striped when I got it, but taking them off is such a pain in the butt. I know i'd have to pay someone to remove all the adhesive

Took me forever to even remove the pinstripe that was in between the two larger stripes.

I could not imagine removing the larger ones.
A friend in one of my classes works at a vinyl shop and he told he there is something you can attach to a drill, kind of like a buffer for waxing, that loosens up the glue and makes it hella easier to remove

Gentle application of a heat gun and they'll generally give way pretty easily. any decent bug and tar remover or grease removal prep solution can get the residue off.

Stripes all the way down to the ground don't look good in my view.

If there's a Pep Boys Auto near you they sell this stuff called "Airplane" = Brand Decal & Adhesive remover. Works great. Still have to buff the car out afterward though. I used this product & a Heat Gun to remove my Stripes off the whole car. My car had silver stripes just like your black ones. Just who ever put them on did a real hack job so I got rid of them.

Goof off takes it off well. I would remove but I generally like without. Like the clean look

I used goo gone and a hair dryer to remove the pinstripe down the middle and it took for ever.

The stripes on the front bumper weren't done right either.

I'll remove them off the bumper this weekend and let it be for a while.
Until I eventually get the GT500 spoiler, then I may get all of it removed.

Thinking about ditching the stripes

Think it'll look great with them off the bumper.

I tried Goof Off & Goo Gone & WD 40 & several other products.... it just didn't take it all off. It would only remove the sticky stuff. The hard dry stuff would not come off with Goo Gone or Goof Off but the Airplane Brand Adhesive remover did. Sprayed it on....Let sit about 15 - 20 min. & started rubbing it off. Had to do it about 3-4 times before I got it all off. You can spend a lot of money trying other products if you want....that's what I did before I finally found something that worked.

Use a heatgun instead of a blowdryer. It'll come off much easier and leave close to no glue residue (so you shouldn't even need goof off/goo gone etc.)

Seriously, get a heatgun! Cheap from harbor freight etc.

I have a friend that works at a vinyl shop, talked to him today in class, and he said they could remove the stripes for me in less than an hour, they use an eraser wheel.

I'm going to get them removed, then done in the exact same style, but in the color "process blue" (Carolina Panther blue lol)

The job done on these stripes was pretty shotty to be honest. Seems like whoever did it was in a hurry

Are the ones on the side panels and doors supposed to be easy to take off?

When I did, all I had was Goo Gone, alcohol, and microfiber towels and they came off real easy on my 11 v6. No heat gun, drier, just used my fingernails to start peeling them off.

They don't get as much direct sunlight I guess or as hot. The pinstripe on my hood left a lot of adhesive after I took it off. Had to scrub with goo gone for at least 30-45 min

Makes sense, the adhesive would break down a lot less.

The black stripes down the bumper blend in with the black upper and lower grill way too much. At first glance, I thought the stripes were actually on your grills... as impossible as that would be... lol. The removal of the lower stripes looks way cleaner. Props to @S Marquard for pointing that out.

I like black stripes, (obviously) but only when they're flat black. I agree those blue stripes would look good. Also, those look wider than normal?

Not sure what the width is. Changed my mind about the Blue lol. Getting rid of all the vinyl and buying a pre-painted Cobra R hood from Cervinis. Next Friday I'm ordering it

Id love to do that look of removing just the bumpers (stripes) but 5years of Florida Sun have left an awful ghost stripe (I removed the hood, roof, and trunk to redo them already, but needa do it all now) lesson also learned be careful removing stripe off the spoiler, when I started it literally took the paint with it ν ½νΈ²

Totally agree with you on taking off the stripes on the bumper. I believe it cleans up the front end very nice πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ‘πŸ» I recently did it to mine too.
