Exhaust opinions

Hey everyone I am new to the Mustang Evolution community. I am thinking about upgrading my exhaust I currently just have the stock exhaust but I can't decide between the Roush axleback or the borla atak catback any opinions would be greatly appreciated there's not many fellow gt owners where I'm from and YouTube videos are kinda hard to go off of. Thanks everyone!

If your just doing the axle back the flow master Outlaw sounds good too. I don't think I've ever heard the roush with axle back only. I would choose between the Outlaw or Atak if it was me.

Nein on the dronemaster...they sound good on the throttle but they drone like crazy driving around.

Ive got the Borla Touring, not as loud as the Ataks I hear, but perfect
to me,they got louder after 6 months. One thing good about Borla
is the looks of the 4.5 SS tips.

I'm thinking about the touring. Did you compare them to the Ford Racing touring axel backs? Ford is cheaper but I want good sound. Loved the Borlas when I had a Vette.

Indeed, the Ford racing are made by borla so they are similar to borla touring.

My GT500s, primary rescue (only after the supercharger) from my wrecked 2012, sound better than the day I bought them. They've always sounded awesome but, they've slowly inched up in volume over the last couple years. They are Goldilocks just right now.

I went witht he FLowmaster outlaws and i was very happy. I also still wonder what the magnaflow race series would sound like in real life. these 2 seemed to sound very loud at AMs website.

i than slapped on some LTs and when i roll around 45 and drop into 3rd at full throttle it sounds like Thors mightiest Thurder attack exploding out of my exhaust as i break the sound barrier.

At least thats what i like to think, but it is pretty loud and i get a lot of compliments.

If I didn't get a great deal on my Kooks axlebacks, I would have bought some GT500 axle backs and cut out the resonators. I think that setup sounds great and it's cheap. Or, if I had the cash to spend, Corsa Extremes

SLP loudmouth 1. You won't regret it. I took mine off cause I got LTs and an off road X. But for just axle backs you can't beat them👌🏼

+1 Roush axle backs. I just installed a set recently, love the sound and no drone at cruise. Tip/Trick from a previous thread - I used a small bottle jack on the lower arm and pushed up the pipe where it bends over the axle till the connector separated. That also gave enough room to take out the old and slide in the new.

I have roush axleback on rn, personally like the SLP better but the roush is not bad at all. Especially for the price.

Corsa Sport Axlebacks GT500 Quads - sound great. They get louder as you break them in and NO Drone. They can be a nice rumble when you want to just drive nice but with WOT - they scream!

My husband and I both have them on our 2014 GT/CS Premiums. His a coupe, mine a convertible. We wouldn't trade them for anything. Always get the looks and smiles!

I vote GT 500's with resonator delete. I get a lot of compliments on this exhaust setup plus no drone. Even the service adviser at the Ford dealership complimented me on it.

I have the pypes pype bomb ab and love them. The drone doesn't bother me much if but I could get rid of it I would. I've read mixed reviews whether an x-pipe will get rid of it or have no effect. Anyone know of any applications that might help? And how much will it change the exhaust note compared to the stock mid-pipe?

I have had Roush Axle-backs on my car for a year and a half and I love them! They are definitely an improvement over the stock exhaust. Cold starts and fast take offs sound amazing! The only thing I am not a fan of is how quiet the idle is. I knew this at the time I purchased the axle-backs, but now I want a little more. Exhaust is definitely a personal preference, but at the end of the day mustangs will always sound amazing. I am considering installing high flow cats in hopes that it will make it louder, especially at idle.

I would keep the roush tips and buy a good X pipe. Maybe eventually go to some longtube headers. I have a catless X pipe on mine and I love the way it sounds.

All of the long tube headers I have seen require a whole new midpipe. I am definitely considering it, but I am thinking more towards an H-Pipe for the deep sound. I definitely need cats of some sort. There is a perfect medium when it comes to exhaust that I am trying to find.

If you are only comparing those two models of muffler, the Borla ATAK definitely takes the cake.

My personal muffler recommendation, however:
Flowmaster Super 10s. Nothing is louder or more aggressive than these, if that's what you are going for.
