Advice on DD street tire for 18x10(taller than 27.5)

Well right now I've been running a 285/40 nt555 with 3.73 gears and I am actually hitting 7800 in 4th before the finish line. I need a taller tire that I can also use for DD purposes. Considering I drive 1000 miles a month on average, anything that can last 15k is what I'm looking for.

Is 295/45 or 305/45 too tall? I was feeling that 295/45 nitto nto5 might be a good option, or maybe some nitto nt555r 305/40

Any suggestions? If I can bring down my 4th gear trap RPM to 6800 RPM then I'd be happy but not sure what size can achieve that

I have the MT 325/50s on the back of my 2014 GT Mustang. But that's on a 15" wheel. Huge tire but with the relocation brackets they fit nicely. Looks great from the rear. Sorry don't know how to post pics.

I switch between 325/50/15 (27.8" dia) and 315/35/20 (28.7" dia) The 315 are on the right.

My differential has been shortened 1" per side and both sets of wheels tuck nicely.

How do nt05 last? Curious vs nt555R. I know nt555R last like 10-15k depending on how you drive.

With regard to your RPM question...
Excluding consideration for the effects of torque changes to your ET, etc., to achieve 6800 RPM at what I estimated your speed at about 103 MPH, would require a substantial change in tire size. Like a 32" dia tire (Like a 305/50R20) I assume you have 19" wheels now.
It would be approximately equivalent to going from 3.73 gears to 3.25 gears.

Well right now I'm trapping 116 at the limiter. I'm thinking of going 295/45/18 or 305/45/18. I think the 295 ones are 28.4 in tires but I've heard they run shorter (nt05)

Hmmm....
I used an on-line calculator with the following input...
7800 RPM
285/40R19 Tires
Rear gears: 3.73
Gear ratio in 4th gear: 1.69(Manual)
Gave me calculated speed of: 103 MPH

So 116 to 103 MPH is a substantial difference.
Something's not right.

4th gear for the MT82 is 1.32

I ordered nt05 295/45/18 since the were readily available here. I'll go 555r in 305/40/18 after these

Not only did I screw up the 4th gear ratio, I had the wrong wheel size.
It will be interesting to see how much that brings down the RPM and what effect it has on ET and trap speed.

Nah, you just "mis-keyed" Diehard. Happens all the time.
I don't track/strip at all and I'm interested in your results!

I've never done either but the strip is on my bucket list.
