Rock chips on front end

As the title says, I finally got rock damage, less than a month after buying the car!

On the bumper, there's only one mark, but near the top of the right headlight there's two chips and that I see metal.

Anyways how do you guys deal with this? Fill in paint whenever it happens? Clear film/bra? Just say **** it?

Anyways, how do you guys deal with this?

Rock chips on front end

Same here. Even a little chip on my windshield 😡

You could buy an ugly car bra or 3M vinyl.

I've just accepted that it's going to happen. She's my daily

Bought my car new in 2014. 4th time I drove the car I got a chip on one of my A-pillars from a random rock on the highway. I repaired the chip with the Langka Blob Eliminator kit and Ford factory touch up paint/clear.

After that I went all out on a full Xpel Ultimate clear bra. Did the whole front bumper, entire hood, fenders, 1st 8 inches of roof, A-pillars, mirror caps, headlights, and rocker panels. The whole nine. Was expensive but absolutely worth it as I no longer have to be paranoid about chips. It's a nice feeling of security as my car feels "armored up" now in the front end.

The coolest part about the Xpel Ultimate is that it is self-healing. Any minor scratches or swirls magically disappear with the application of heat. Pouring hot water, sitting in the sun, or just the engine heat will do. I'm a detail fanatic and it's awesome to not have to be so careful wiping down the car on the clear bra'd panels vs. bare paint. It's very easy to induce swirls/marring on bare paint.

How much did the Xpel install run you?

A local dealer is doing this "Premium" package for $1700 after military discount, usually runs $1.9k and some change. He also corrects the paint (removes the swirls, scratches, etc) prior to install. Is this a good price?

Front Bumper
Headlights/Fog Lights
Full Hood
Full Fenders
Full Mirrors
Rockers
Rear Impact
Splash

He also does this one for $900 before discount.

Bumper
Headlights/Fog Lights
Front 12-18" of Fender
Front 12-18" of Hood
Mirrors

Unfortunately no before pics, but I've literally fixed dozens of them on the bumper and the lower front of the hood. This pic is not photoshopped to remove any. Obviously, you can find them when you get real close, but I think it works great. I don't have a steady had so this method is great for me lol.

Thanks! I thought about getting the clear bras. My concern was always people saying they turned yellow-ish over time. But, I don't know anyone personally that has one.

From what I've read, only 3M or other cheap films yellow, Suntek and Xpel are top notch and they are what the pro detailers use.

That's actually a pretty good price if he is including a paint correction along with the install. I paid $1,700 total for everything I mentioned. I would recommend going with the 1st package with the full hood/fenders etc. That way you don't have any lines/seams where the clear bra ends. It will end at the end of the hood and body gaps at the fenders, so it will be seamless and invisible. You won't regret it! There are different grades of Xpel, make sure you get the Ultimate for the self-healing feature and longest warranty.

This was true with older 3M films as the adhesive would turn yellow over time from the UV rays. This is no longer the case with modern films, but they do not last forever. Xpel Ultimate has a 10 year warranty against such yellowing and other defects, but I believe its service life is meant to be 10-15 years before a reinstall. That's pretty darn good though if you think about it.

Wow, yeah I wouldn't mind trying that out myself. Excellent warranty and mine is a garage queen lol, so it's probably not gonna see as much sun as a daily driver would.

Paying to get your car repainted the right way is expensive too, not to mention you won't get any new scratches under where the film goes.

Man it's going to happen. If you can't take it don't drive the car or pay for precautions.

Like Devil Strider says - pay to protect it with a clear bra. Us Colorado dudes live with the sand trucks 6months out of the year. Then look around and seems like everyone drives with broken windshields and peppered front ends

I'm at 41k miles and my car looks like the lower bumper has been in a sand storm
I blame the trip to mustang week...
Anyway if you can get the clear bra on it DO IT. Well worth it.
Eventually I'll get mine resprayed, wait a month or so for the paint to cure fully, and then get a clear bra on it.
