Installed new rims from AM, PROBLEM

SO I got a couple rims from American Muscle a couple weeks ago ( 18x10 GT/CS replicas they had on special )
had Pep Boys mount up some tires for me took them home mounted them up
never thought anything about it they looked good
but every time I look at the car I noticed something was off ?
couldn't put my finger on it ? then a friend mentioned it looks like one of your wheels sticks out more than the other
so i took it to an alignment shop to see if the rear was in line ,it was ,they said looks like the wheels have different back spacing ,SO I did a quick measure with the rims on the car and it appears i got 2 different rims, boxed wrong i presume ? so I called AM , talked to a girl about it asked If there was a problem exchanging it for the correct one and she says i need writing from the shop yada, yada
that's a little a little much isn't it ? if one's boxed wrong ,whats the issue ? just replace it ..... i don't feel like taking it to another shop and paying again or the same info ,just to verify ,WTH?

Seems like they should be able to measure it when you return it.

I agree
im going to take it off tomorrow and give it a correct measurement , but its a good inch off , either backspacing or its an inch narrower wheel ,not sure yet ,to be honest I never took them out of the boxes ,just opened them ,checked them out ,dropped them off to get tires mounted

The AM guy here seems to respond to a lot of posts so maybe after the first of the week you'll hear from him. Looks like you have the Same color car as my 2012 so post a pic when you're all set. I'd like to see them.

Shouldn't the back spacing be on the inside of the rim?

I guess i'll play devils advocate....

You didn't check the wheels before putting them on the car?

If you believe that your wheels are mismatched, do a quick measure yourself to confirm. If confirmed, your measurements will be adequate to be considered fact. I would simply tell AM that you received mismatched wheels and you confirmed the mismatch by measuring it yourself. It does not take a professional to use a tape measure. If they tell you that it must be in writing from a "professional" shop, then tell them you'd be more than happy if AM pays for the wheel diagnosis and your rental car.

Point is, AM doesn't have much of a leg to stand on here... They are in the wrong and should own up to their mistake. I buy 90%+ of all my parts from AM, and have had nothing but excellent customer service in any given scenario with them. As long as you word your statement to AM correctly, you should be able to get your way without much pushback.

no of coarse not
just opened the boxes and looked at them .never pulled them out
dropped them off had the tires mounted
then installed them myself and really didnt take notice they are the exact same wheels , but now that i realized there was something off . i took them off yesterday and they have different backspacing , ones about 7.25 and the others around 6.5
and looking at the hub thickness ,you can tell their different , i can't believe i didnt notice it , duh
guess i was in a hurry to get them on

ya i doubt ill any problem , now that i've actually measured and checked them out , maybe because i want sure what the problem was when i called ? just seemed odd to me that she said that ?
any way after a little investigating i believe i received a wheel for a 99-03 car and 1 for a 05 and up ///
but i actually like the 99=03 back spacing better its a little more tucked in

I'll call them tomorrow and straighten it out , thanks for the input

This.

Wheels typically have the backspacing and size stamped on the inside. It's also possible that since you went with wider wheels your axle is ever so slightly not centered and the wider wheels made it apparent.

The 99-04 offset would push it out more actually being a lower offset.

Why do you think you were suppose to have the 7.25 Backspace (19 mm offset)?

Well you're absolutely right!
If they have them available with other offsets and backspace, I wonder why they make no mention of it?
That's a pain in the butt!
