Steering wheel's getting slick

Hi. I have a 2012 Mustang gt with stock steering wheel. It's starting to get a bit slick. What do you guys use to fix this problem? Thanks in advance for your help.

I wrapped mine in friction tape with a contrasting centering mark at the top. It gave it an old school look that I like and feels good.

Is it the premium Alcantara wheel or the rubber base one?

Steering wheel's getting slick

Ah those should be decently easy to clean, a non-greasy cleaner such as Meguiars Matte Interior Cleaner should do the job perfectly.

You can grab up Premium wheels off Ebay relatively commonly. The Premium leather wheel is nice without the long term durability issues that come with Alacantra suede. Obviously try to get one that has the same controls yours has.

Are you referring to the GT500 wheel? The premium wheel is the Alcantara one.

The GT500 is a mix of both, looks more racey too.

Do not use or let anyone else use anything other than an actual leather cleaner/conditioner on your steering wheel, armorall and others like it make it really slick.

I use soap and water on leather steering wheels, seats, etc. Specifically, Dawn dishwashing soap.

I noticed that a week after driving my car. I went to AutonZone and got a steering wheel cover until I get motivated to yank the wheel apart.

I have the Premium interior, 400a and 401a smooth leather steering wheel and that's what I am referring to.

Swapping wheels is incredibly easy on these cars. I'd take this as an opportunity to upgrade to the premium or alcantara wheels (I paid $150 for a mine on ebay).

Check out CJponyparts video on youtube that gives you step by step instructions on how to change them out.

I've done it several times and it literally only takes 5-10 minutes and requires removing three screws. Don't worry about the buttons being the same either, you can swap out those controls fairly easily as well.

Just make sure not to turn the wheel (or let it turn on its own) at all during the process as I did that once and the column locked up solid and that was kind of scary.
