Not really recommended for daily use. Suppose it depends on what type of driving you do. If it's stop and go-then I'd say no go.

If you are spending thousands of dollars on forced induction, I rather have a local shop install and tune. There are places you can go and do research: local car clubs, forums, ask the tuner questions.

If you have to, drive to the shop a state away.

Many MR2 guys go to Prime which is in New Jersey. Prime has a stellar reputation.

Again, this isn't a slight against VMP, Brenspeed, etc. I am saying go to them directly and bypass the email tunes.

I know email tunes lower the barrier of entry, but they have done nothing but put a bad taste in my mouth. Too "cookie cutter" and back and forth. If you have mechanical problems? It's even a bigger hassle.

Another question, in the SCT tuner you can change the settings for the transmission, I have an 6 speed Automatic, what do the negative percentages mean and do, and at what percent, positive or negative gives the car the best performace on the street as far as shifting? I really want the car to bark gears when putting my foot down. Thanks for the info

I run the line pressures at +25% (max allowed) on my tune. That really firms up shifting. You can adjust the mph where the gear changes occur as well, if you need to. I didn't find that necessary.

I've run Bama on my last 3 mustangs without any issue of any kind. I like the idea that I can email Bama to get an updated tune when ever I make a mod. I don't always get to install all the mods at the same time. I've done a couple different CAI then exhaust. So the convenience of getting new tunes quickly and free makes it well worthwhile to me. There is only one tuner in my area and they use Predator tuners. Not willing to spend $400 for another hand held and $200-$300 everytime I want to try something else. Just my $.02.

There is a positive in going with the Bama SCT X4. You get Bama tunes for life when you buy the tuner.

Because the X4 appears to be SCT's "go to" flag ship device you also have the ability to use the programmer to load other tunes from various tuners such as Steeda.

Yes, you are getting a canned email tune, but you can run a data log and have your tune finely adjusted to your specific needs. Even with a dyno tune, you will not have an optimum tune due to fluctuating elevation and atmospheric conditions. Sometimes a simple change in barometric pressure can suck power from an engine.

I remember my dad whining about fuel injected engines while we were racing. He preferred carbs. It took him a while to understand the ease of tuning, and the amount of work that the MAF and O2 sensors do.

However, the man knew how to use a timing light, and had no problems swapping jets to accommodate the elements. Unfortunately the elements can change in a moment's notice.

tuner

I have used Lund Racing on my last two cars a 13 track pack naturally aspirated and my current car a 16 gt pp with a Paxton setup with wastegate and smaller pulley . Both run better then stock and made excellent power. I had zero issues with either one at 500 rwhp horsepower and the other at around 700 rwhp. I will be going to turbo setup shortly and will be using them for that project as well.

I have the SCT3 on my Stang with a Custom Tune from "Mustang Specialties". Absolutely NO issues with or about it.
