Exhaust cutouts

Hi all,

I am a new 2013 GT owner and I'm considering installing a new GT500 exhaust and exhaust cutouts. I'm wondering what you all think about that setup and what brands are best. Also, I'm interested in getting the most power gains for a reasonable amount of money. At this point in time I'm not ready to look at a turbo, supercharger, or nitrous.

I'm looking forward to your input!

Thanks

Not going to have much of a performance gain over a 3" catback unless you have a shop weld the cutout pre-cat.

Either way it's just for a slightly louder exhaust. Benefit is if you want to go quiet you can. If you want loud you can also.

Whatever brand you get, get an electric one.

Exhaust cutouts

Also be wary that you might actually see a loss in power. A full piped exhaust will evacuate the exhaust gases in a higher velocity but creates more back pressure as a result which means better power generally. The further up the system you place the cutout the less back pressure so you may lose 1-2hp and 1-2tq.

I see...so it sounds like the best place to install them is just before the cat. Now I'm wondering if I should just find a better sounding exhaust system all together and not worry about the cutouts...
