2013-2014 Trunk Filler Panel Removal

Does anyone know how to remove the outside rear trunk filler panel on 2013-2014 GT's? I know they are different from 10-12's. I have the fiber panel off and the 2 torx head screws. Is it just 3M tape after that? I don't want to break it off.

There are clips that hold it in after you take the 2 screws out from inside the trunk. I don't believe there is any double sided tape and that its just the clips and foam

Here is the back of mine when I took it off. Slide something like a plastic putty knife or a bondo spreader between the panel and the deck lid and you will feel the clips. Gently apply downward pressure to the ones in the top and upward pressure to the ones on the bottom to release the clips and it pops right off. No tape.

I'm removing it to get to the GT emblem. Having a custom one made and need to send the orignal with the design. Also thinking of getting stock one painted to match the car.

you don't have to take the panel off then - just remove the center cap. put painters tape around the edge to keep from scratching the panel, slide a putty knife or plastic trim removing pry wedge under the edge and gently twist - working your way around. There is double sided tape holding it on along with locating pegs.take your time so you don't scratch it up.

^ you can do that, however I do not recommend it. The black surrounding plastic is so easy to scratch or mar. If you pop the panel off you can pop the faux gas cap off from the back with ease.
