Just picked up a 12 GT

So I traded off the 06 GT today for a low milage 2012 GT. I have a few question about some of the items I have noticed.

I am wondering if it hit a deer or rear ended someone. Here is the reason. They replaced the grill with a Foose grill and the bumper seems to be a CS bumper. The fog light holes are in the CS location but it does not have them installed.

I do love the car. It rides a lot better then the 06 did.

You can buy the CS bumper without fog lights

I figured they had hit something and decided to replace it with the cs bumper. AM has the fogs for $120 each. I don;t know where to find the harness extender.

It's possible. Carfax could be your answer, but it does cost I'm pretty sure. If you take it somewhere reputable, they may be able to just look at the front end and tell you yes or no.

If you want the CS fog lights then do like I did and get a set off eBay for about $128 shipped and it is a complete kit including wire extensions. They are Ford parts from a dealer.

My 12Gt didn't come with the boss/CS spoiler and fog lights. Put it in b/c I liked the looks, not because I hit something.
Buying the spoiler with fog lights costs more. Not to mention you can't run both sets of fog lights with the provided wiring. Who knows, might've been something the original owner was going to do but didn't have the funds?

I understand what you're saying. I don't think anyone hit a deer. I think they just swapped out the bumper and grill for looks. It happens a lot.

Very common cosmetic swap. If it hit something, the insurance would have likely replaced the cap with stock.

In 2012, it was some work to put in the little fog lights. You can't just pop in the new plates and lights into the existing GT bumper like you can on the 2013+ cars.

Here's what I did on my 2014. I just piped them into the existing grille fog harness at the rad support and used LED bulbs in the CS fogs to keep the draw down low enough to do that.

Looks nice. Yeah oe of the things I was looking for when I got my GT was those fogs. My V6 had the Pony package which came with lower fog lights and I loved the look.

The little ones aren't too powerful but, with the 60w equivalent LEDs in them they fill in the low beam pretty nicely closer to the car.

5LHO, so both sets of fogs come on and no blown fuses?

Set up like I have it, with factory led uppers and 60w equivalent 12-led Crees down below, no issues thus far and it's been on every minute I drive the car for months, because the grille fogs are DRLs where I live.

Here's the bulbs I used:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/371476542813

They are definitely whiter and little brighter than the OEM halogen crap and draw far less power.

Thanks 5LOH, I love the grille fogs and wanted to replace the plastic crap in the lower bumper with lights. Good to know it works.

Yep, look around on Ebay....they are really cheap, too. It's bumper tinsel but, it looks better than the plastic blanking plates.

I think I paid $128, shipped, for the full kit, with lights, housings, harness, fascia plates and hardware.

Just got some. Been looking for something to replace the orange glow of the stock bulbs.

Yep, most EBay LED lights are bull**** and really weak. These put out at least equivalent light to the halogens they replace, look better, last longer, draw less power and are cheap.

Diode Dynamics sells XML2 high powered leds and so does Raxiom through AM, for those that want the best if what an led can do or 35 watt hid using the stock harness as the trigger wire for a relay harness.

Its amazing the advancement made with the SRA. Ford really took time to improve and adapt it. I've driven some independent rear cars that don't felt as good as these last gen Mustangs do. Not saying they didn't need to modernize the poor thing but it shows they put time into it unlike what some other car makers do.

Hey man, how did you by chance get the lights bulbs out? I have the GT/CS facia with the fog lights. These are nothing like the V6 w/ Pony Package.

Hmm, I don't understand...the lights bulbs are just 1/4 turn and out h11s right?. Or do you mean the light housings?

No, just the bulbs. I tried that 1/4 turn same as I would on my V6 and it didn't budge. I may have been too soft with it, but I felt I would break it if I pulled or twisted it any harder. Is there a clip that needs to be lifted or removed first?

They can be tight. They will move. You may need to push in on them a bit. You could also remove the housings and change them on the bench.

Ok, I was working on it from inderneath. Don't have a garage to jack it up or take the wheel out. I'll try again though.

Yeah it's tight, particularly the pass side, with the washer fluid reservoir

Damn, so look straight at it from behind it twists clockwise just a hair, but doesn't move from there I have a firm grip and it's just not releasing. I feel there's a clip or something that needs to be lifted or released to remove these things. Definitely not like the V6 Pony Package

Yup, counter turn it pops right out however the wire harness plug needs to be removed. You also absolutely need to do something about the washer fluid reservoir on the passenger side. No way to get in there unless you have small child hands. appreciate your help dispite my threadjacking. On a side note, those led bulbs emit hardly any light and provide 0 visibility. I don't mind so much as I was just looking for looks, but it's like they aren't even on.

The led ones I noted earlier are easily putting out as much visibility as the factory halogens and are whiter and nicer looking.

No match for hid, of course but, like I noted, no wiring hassles.

If the lights are missing they may have set up a brake cooling duct. Pretty common spot to put a duct intake.
