Bought my first Mustang...

Hi, my name is Bryan.

I've always been a car guy. I love to drive and work on my own vehicles as much as possible.

Being a red blooded American guy the Mustang has always been very appealing. My first experience with Mustangs was in highschool. My friend joined the Army and bought a 2003 GT with a manual. Looking back it was slow, handled like garbage and scared the crap out of me! That's part of the reason it was always on my mind. I'd never been in a car that felt that way. Being in the drivers seat made my heart race. The passengers seat made me giggle like a little kid. The noise was fantastic......

So, in short.... I had to have one.

I'd worked my way into a '13 F150 by slaving away. It was a great truck but I knew I had to have a Mustang. Especially after the 2010 restyle of the S197 was released. I did my research and scoured every classified site I could for a year or so. In doing so I found a few options and finally decided to pull the trigger on my car.

It's a 2014 GT manual in Oxford White with Shelby Blue stripes. Optioned well with the comfort interior and the track pack. It had sat on a dealers lot in Minnesota for 6 months with 42k on the clock for $22,488. I made the 6 hour drive and bought it.

I've been lurking on this forum for about a month now and hope to be a useful member!

With out boring you guys too much more here she is....

Thanks Robo!

I've got a few plans for it so far. Including axle back and an offroad X-pipe. First, I really need some damn tires. These stock ones suck....

Exhaust is definitely up there with must have mods especially for me. I like my car to be loud though, wheels and tires, short throw shifter, tune, those could all work. How loud do you want the car? And congratulations on the purchase

She's a beaut! Ditch that front plate though, it's a wart on that poor girl's nose, lol.

You got a smoking deal on that, BTW.

As for the plate it has to stay. Iowa sucks.

The exhaust is definitely on the top of my list. I want at least an Off-road X-pipe and some axle backs. Loud is the goal.

I am just getting into tuning with HP Tuners. There is tons of information about coyotes on the forum over there on tuning our cars. Someone even found out how to make a "ghost cam" tune. Most likely I'll install a tune myself.

The shifter may be 3rd on my list. MGW looks like the best option out there currently.

Congratulations on the car. I can relate after just buying my own 3 months ago, was looking, saving and researching for over a year.

Car looks great. I second the last poster about removing the front plate if you can. I picked up a sweet looking black on black pony through Amazon and slapped it on the front since it already had the screw holes. Much like you, getting ready to push forward with a few mods. Have fun with it!

Thanks man!

Like I said though the plate needs to be there for legal reasons. I might get a lower mount and stick it on the lip.

I live in a front plate state too, I just keep it in the car, just in case. Knock on wood, hasn't been an issue yet, even had some local cops stop at car shows, and they didn't mention anything to us about front plates.

lets see if we can get new kid in trouble with the PoPo! my plate is tucked into the dash at the base of the windshield...being older, white, and polite when needed will help if I ever get in trouble.

As far as mods my Favorite (base model V6) was a suspension re-vamp with 1 1/2 drop, Koni Yellows and the usual bits. It eliminated the delayed tossing around movement when having fun on two lane blacktop. I also did the MGW and motor mounts which improved shifting for me. Learn the tight gates and enjoy the ride

Nice looking Mustang and the TrakPak option is a great starting point.
I had a 14 TrakPak manual although I sold it last year.
The TrakPak has 3.73 gears, different struts/shocks and springs, engine oil cooler and front core support and radiator from a Boss 302....and runs 5/50 oil similar to the Boss 302.

If you want loud, Roush with an O/R X or H pipe is going to be loud, or a muffler delete with Offroad mid pipe. Other loud axle backs are Borla Ataks, Corsa Extremes, Flowmaster outlaws, and although quieter than these the Borla S types have a nice tone to them. The Ataks will be really loud with an O/R mid pipe. I like the sound of an O/R h pipe better but to each their own.

Look for the plate style where you can tuck it under the bumper, I think there's even an electric/automatic one as well

Congrats & good luck with the new ride.
Have a plan, a goal, & a budget for your mods. These things are easy to throw money @, and there is no profit in used parts.

Dunno about Iowa but Texas requires a front plate. But I haven't run one since 1995 my first year in senior high. Been pulled over once for it but never got a ticket. Actually, got pulled over a second time in Cali a month after getting my 13 5.0 but didn't get a ticket especially for gunning it on a turn. The cop basically pulled me over to check out the Mustang lol. Told me I needed a front plate and said just get it done "when I get around to it" lol

Very nice! Did you get it in the twin cities? Or more west? My wife and I are adding a newer one to the garage next spring,I'm looking for a GT convertible 2011-2015 in a Kona blue or something in dark blue.
Again very nice and enjoy.

Nice car, man! If you're looking for an exhaust, then I'd try the Roush AB. I get a ton of compliments on mine.

Nice ride - congrats
It's not the police you have to worry about with the front plate in LA but the parking enforcement Nazis. They seem to get 'extra credit' for ticketing car without them.

Wis. requires a front plat too but I still haven't put it on. Would just look SOOOOO bad on that clean front end.
