Coyote High Mileage

Guys,

Proud owner of a new used 68k mustang.

Looking for any recommendations of important maintenance of the v8 11-14 GT.

Please no, it's like any other high mile car replies. I am not very car savvy and am looking for good tribal knowledge.

Assuming you've checked prior to purchase for mechanical problems and signs of abuse.

But technically you're asking us to tell you that the Mustang is some sort of special vehicle than any other used car. It ain't. Lol

But do check for services on all recall issues. At 68k the brake pads should have been changed out. If not do not get factory pads. Go after market.

68k is not High mileage at all. It is at a point where you would want to flush the transmission just for a piece of mind. Check the color of your cooling system fluid and possibly do a complete flush on that as well. Most people do oil changes and that's it so when you buy a car and are unsure, its just a safe practice to flush any fluid you think is in need of a change. Get an oil catch can and install that to help with oil build up in the intake manifold.

Not car savyy? Take it to a good shop and have them change ALL the fluids, just because. It'll cost a couple bucks but, you know what you have and if there are any issues. The factory fluids are actually quite good quality and you might want to use those, if you're planning on just leaving it stock. Fresh spark plugs if it's running in any way other than totally smooth, NGK Iridium IX in the stock heat range are fine there, or the stock Motorcraft.

They want to do an injector clean. Should I just buy a bottle or Lucas instead for 3$?

save the $3 (or much more if they do it) also note this as a shop that likes to sell unnecessary stuff.
