I have the 2014 track pack. I changed the diff fluid with royal purple 75-140. how much should it hold? I have 4 quarts in there and I still cant touch the fluid with my finger in it. should be 5mm below the fill hole correct? **** is 20 bucks a bottle... haha.

The 8.8 rear in my 01 takes slightly more than two quarts... I have a difficult time believing that your 14 is requiring nearly double that!

Is the rear end sitting relatively level while you are filling it?
Or is the car jacked up from the side?

Yeah it's on a 10 ton lift. And there's 4 quarts in there.

Well that is strange.
It shouldn't be taking that much. Even with an optional diff oil cooler, it should take less than four quarts.

I assume that it has the original track pack differential cover?

If you have your owners manual handy, look in the section that shows the fluid fill level capacities and see what it says about the differential.

It says 5mm below fill hole. Just found it hard to belive it's more than 4 quarts.

And I don't know what unit of measurement that Ford used in the 14 owners manual, but in mine the diff capacity is measured in pints.
So keep that in mind.

Yes. I find it hard to believe also.
It doesn't say how much? Just 5mm below the fill hole?

Maybe they want it filled to a higher level with the track pack?

Now I'm second guessing the fluid level in my diff. It is setup just like a track pack. I don't have the diff cover though.

When I installed the Ford aluminum finned diff cover on my base model 14 GT, it took two quarts to refill it. I also measured how much fluid came out of it and it was right at two quarts. The cover I installed is the same as the one on the track pack and Boss cars so I don't know how you are getting four quarts in and you still cannot touch oil.
