Just wondering if anyone elses dealership handled the airbags the same. I had to get on a waitlist for it and have had them for a while. 2 weeks ago I got a call while at work and message was left saying they need my serial number from airbag. I had forgot about it and got a letter saying I have to make an appointment by the 9th to drop car off for them. Is it just my dealership that is stupid and didnt get the number prior to letting me go? I go to school and work and honestly dont feel like waiting/spending time for them to get something they should have already gotten.

My car was built in Feb of 13 as a 14 model and still no letter for me to bring it in. I figure mine has got to be close to the beginning of the model year. I have received the letter stating that my car is under the recall but that's it.
I just received my letter to get my airbag replaced, FINALLY. It said to contact the dealer for installation. Problem is, they gave me a dealer name that is not near me and in another state, only about 1 hour away tho. I will call my dealer and see if they can do it, providing they have the new bags. Keeping my fingers crossed.
I have 2 2014s - Never received a letter for either one. I checked with a dealer (2-3 miles away). They told me to bring one in & they replaced it in about 30 min.
They said that was the last one in stock so I need to wait a week or so for the other car.
Side Note: A weird thing happened when the airbag was replaced. The car was quieter (exhaust note), produced less power, less responsive, and MPG on the hwy dropped from 23 MPG to 16.9 MPG.
I drove 500 Hwy miles the day after it was replaced, and then a return trip yielded the same 16.9 MPG on the way back. All refuels were with Exxon 93 which is what I always run.
I thought perhaps they installed an updated tune, but dealer denies this & it's not on the invoice.
Still scratching my head on this one. A trip back to the dealer for diagnosis pending.
That is very weird. I would not be happy at all about that. If the CEL is not on, I doubt they will be able to find anything. Mechanics don't seem to be able to diagnose things like they did years ago. They rely to much on what a computer tells them. I had one tell me one time at the chevy dealer that if the CEL light is not on to give us an idea on what is the problem, then you don't have a problem. My experience after that pretty much tells me that was a true statement. Good luck on getting it fixed and let us know what they say.
Going to put off the air bag replacement on the 2nd car until I work this out.
I'm hoping it will normalize on its own, but I'm shocked if the battery disconnect was so impactful. I didn't check mileage manually so you may be correct about that. I hope you are, so I'll verify with pen/paper until I solve this. I suppose the other symptoms could be my imagination after noticing the mileage but I don't think so. Time will tell.
Right now, I'm looking at obvious things like dragging brakes that could be coincidental. So far I've found nothing else.
CR, I was working on our car and disconnected the battery, after that our mileage went down from 25avg to 21 or 22avg. After a month or so it is starting to come back up. Weird thing is the B mode setting on trip/fuel did not change. I did not check mileage with a pencil either, sorry.
I think I was in and out of the dealership in 10 minutes. I had been on a waitlist for a few months. I would have the repair done as soon as possible after parts are available:
Can some of you guys with 14's that have had this fixed already, tell me what your manufacturing date of your car is so I can get an idea if mine is coming up? Thanks.
I called my local dealer and asked them about getting my car fixed even though I have not received a fix it letter and they are going to order a new air bag for it and call me when it comes in.
Well, almost three weeks later after ordering the parts and no airbag parts yet. The dealer told me today that they seemed to be on back order again and have no idea when it will be in.
It's been almost two years since I was first notified. Crazy.
I don't know. It looks like that happened in August of last year and there were several people on here that just had their's replaced in January. I don't know what is the holdup.
I had my 2006 drivers done last summer, & the passengers is still coming.
They said high humidity areas were priority,
but it seems to be pretty random.
I just had my 2014 done last weekend. It was pretty painless. I called dealer, they ordered parts. Parts came in a couple days, job was done in 30 minutes.
Air bag done this morning. Took about 45 mins total time including check in. Glad to have that out of the way. I dislike taking our Horse to our local dealer, to far from other dealers to make it reasonable. It's out of our hair and the only thing I had to do after was put the two little screw plugs back in they left on the dash. See why I don't like going there? Always something with guys. Even stupid little things like that.
I had mine done a couple weeks ago. Pretty painless. I called them and took it in 2 days later. They appeared to already have the parts in stock. Possibly because of the humidity in north Carolina makes that fix a priority, or maybe it was because its just a huge dealer with a massive service and parts department.
I live near the Springfield MO area and it's been almost a month since they supposedly ordered mine but still no call. I checked with them a few days ago and it still wasn't in. I'm going to check with a different dealer.
I have an appointment 8:00 am friday, the dealer I bought from said it
is a 3 hour job and I had to leave the car all day.So I called a different dealer and they will get right to it, so I can wait there until done.
