Drag Race Tire Pressure??

Is there a good rule of thumb? I am going to the track next weekend and it will be the dirst time I am using Drag Radials. I have 285 40 18 NITTO NT05R. I know it will be a busy night at the track and I would love advice on a good place to start with tire pressure for first run

Why are you using drag radials with a manual? Are you just begging to break something? Don't air them down to much.

I'm not a racer, so be nice... but... are you saying this because the DR's hook really hard and cause a lot of driveline shock?

Just curious...

Thanks

Drag radials don't have as much "give" as a set of bias ply tires. That is why people with manuals tend to use the bias ply racing tire. At launch, the side wall wrinkles to lessen the shock on the drive train.

But bias ply tend to "dance" when you get to the traps. Quite unnerving to feel like the back end is swaying all over until you get used to it. Run bias tires up front and it eases the dance; don't run bias and radials.

I understand, thanks for the explanation.

Unless you baby your launches (then what's the point of running DRs?), you will inevitably break something in your driveline running drag radials with a manual.

Start at 22-23 and move up until you spin. The NT05 is not a true dr so they may not take a hit too well.

Probably run with 18-20 psi....I'm slowly getting my car prepped before I hit the strip with the same drag radials. I already have the aluminum driveshaft, and getting upgraded half shafts soon. Stiffened up the suspension so far with the wheel hop elimination parts, which has worked. Then trrack time to try and beat my Crossfire SRT6's time of 11.7 @116 mph. Good luck....

I run NTO5rs and they seem to work best for me at 16.5-17 lbs hot. I'm auto now, but ran them when I was manual as well.
