Near Warranty End

Hey Folks,

So I'm getting to within a few hundred miles of the end of my bumper to bumper warranty. I know this is around the time when expensive things die, so I figured I'd ask if there was anything I should be on the lookout for or have checked out before my warranty expires. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

She's gonna blow! Sell it to someone else who'll be happy to take it off your hands cheap.

But the REAL question is, how much do you love the Gixxer? I've got a Blackbird meself, but I've always had a soft spot for the Soozook. It's the redheaded stepchild of motorcycles. It'll kick your *** proper if you don't respect it. Ride safe, bro.

Mine is about to exceed the warranty. Last mustang I had I traded it before the warranty was up. I want to keep this one. This is a valid question.

Warranty is a sales tool. If the car made it this far, it's likely good to go. All modern cars are expensive if they break, bc they are technically complex and good.

Don't know how Suzuki got in here but, I have an 07 1k I have put over 400 passes on at the strip, nitrous for the last few years. Nothing's ever broken. That's a durable modern machine.

I mentioned your Gixxer because it's in your album.

Ive had 4 GT's, a 99, 04, 06, 14.
All sold with over 100k on the clock.
No problems with all, just keep up with
oil changes, filters, brakes and battery, and tires.
Thats why I keep buying Mustangs. they hold up
if you dont abuse them too much.
My 14 is at 30k so Im coming up on the warrant expiration also.

Does anyone lease?
Would that be better than buying every few years (?)

Leasing is good for people that drive few miles, have no intentions of modding and aren't going to change their minds about leasing this vehicle at the end of the term.

If you drive few enough miles, then there will be positive equity and you could end up being paid at the end of the term.

Any modding might be against the lease agreement or effect the value of the vehicle and that would effect amount owed (doubt they will give you money on modding situation)

If you decide you want to keep the car... well it will be like you buying it from scratch (friend of mine did this once)

If you are definitely going to trade up every 2-3 years then it would probably pay off for you. But you will never own it.

Yeah... I was just wondering... my mom got a new SUV on Friday for $114,000, & was looking at the used lot, & they were mostly new lease returns

My mom traded her car for a new white Escalade.

Near Warranty End

I was just wondering about leasing, since i doubt I would be modding any, since buying is so expensive, & the depreciation is so high,
that after you finish paying for your car (say, 5 years or so,), you would be thinking about maybe getting a new one anyways, or a different one.

She had a CTS, & wanted something different.
My mom was going to get the "cheap" one, & my dad told her just get the Platinum 4x4, 'cause it will be better when winters arrives in a month or so.

The coolest thing tho is Surround Vision. it gives an overhead shot of the Cadi lol

back on topic.....hood corrosion and LCA's are common problem areas.

might have been $114K but it was Canadian $114K

I'll say of course it's safer in the snow...I'd be too scared to take it out.

Gravy, that is insane. I guess I never looked at those before. I thought the >$100k vehicles were strictly European and RVs. Guess I showed my *** but I am just plain ignorant on that type of spending.

I hope they leave something other than debt for you! Lol

unless your agreed buy out price is lower than you can sell it for you won't get "positive equity". You don't get a refund for unused miles you just get charged for excess mileage.

Honestly I don't keep cars very long. I've had 16 cars in 24 years of driving. I currently have two.... and I already was looking at a new 2016 mustang but went ahead and did my Air Lift install which kinda locks me into this car for a bit.

Now after I pay it off I may upgrade but I might hang onto it too.

If it wasn't for the two cars... probably would have upgraded a couple weeks ago... and that was with me owning my mustang less than 6 months at the time.

I am so glad I asked. I thought I'd heard a squeak once or twice going over a speedbump, but I let it go. This will be at the top of my list when I take her in. Thank YOU!

LCA, that's it for end of warranty?
I already replaced mine at 30K ... so nothing else to check at 36K ('14 V6)?
Also, should I expect to replace LCA every 30K or so?
Thanks

did you look at the bottom front end of your hood?

Mine had a bent rear axle but that's uncommon.

Did the warranty pay for it? I just hope it wasn't your rear axle

long story:

nice day toy 5-6K per year. After 8-9 months I had a speed sensitive squeak from drivers rear (along with front lca's) I brought it in lca's replaced and they "lubed" rear caliper. That was good for 9 months but the rear squeak came back (it would go away with braking) very faint but there. This time I looked at it my self and measured run-out with a dial indicator. It was off compared to the other axle (.013? compared to .002) measuring on the hub itself. I lubed it at that time and it was quiet for 8-9 months...when it came back I went to my dealer with my drawing of what/how I measured and dimensions. They suggested it was from hitting a pot hole (nope) but I just went to my sales person (small town dealership) who I make it a point to say "hi" to every time I buy an oil filter. Told her the story.....she said "they just need to know how to write it up"

Final outcome was next day I got a new axle on Fords dime...that was 2 yrs ago. This is why I suggest being friendly with the dealer where you would bring it for wtty service.

forgot to mention....we'll see if the latest version of lca's last. If mine go again I'm going aftermarket (assuming I can)

Mine expired in August and my car has 22,000 miles on it. I took mine in right before it expired to get the supposed "tire noise" documented. They still say it's tire noise so hopefully they are right.
