I have been reading the past day or so about tunes. I have the mod bug and naturally want to tune my 2012 5.0... the throttle response, and lack of torque down low is annoying to me.
I'll start this out with that I have the MPP extended B2B warranty (I know, I got ripped off, but it's saved me on the front LCA'S already)... so my questions are based off it basically. My vehicle is also a Ford certified preowned. I have ford PT warranty for 7 years and 100k miles. I have 6 yr/104k MPP warranty.
1) If I was to get a Bama tune, I know it would void ford's warranty, but would it void the MPP extended warranty?
2) if it would void both warranties, I know the procal has a warranty of its own. Would it still be in effect, even if I don't have ford's B2B warranty anymore? I don't mind a little more mild tune, if I keep a warranty. Would it get rid of my MPP warranty also?
I am saving for a wedding so I can't really risk not having warranty and something going wrong for a big bill. Isn't there a cylinder 8 issue on the 11-12's? So if either of the tunes ruin the warranty then I can live with stock.. but I would like to tune it. Only thing I have right now is roush axlebacks
Honestly, since you're not just worried about one, but two warranties....just do mods that do not require tuning (brakes, suspension, spring vs unsprung weight, etc). Either that or cancel mpp, get refund, save it for repairs instead, acknowledge Ford pt warranty is out, and mod on.
Or even better, actually read your warranties and know yourself what will/can void them.

Problem is that if you blow an engine or transmission the dealer doesn't pay for it ford does. Before ford shells out that much for the repair they will want to see the computer which will show the cars been tuned and they will not pay it. Regardless of whatever someone at the dealer may have told you I would not count them paying for the repairs.
I strongly suggest you READ the warranties. Even if you call, and the owner himself tells you there's nothing that would void the warranty that won't do you any good if/when you have to take it in and they deny it.
Remember they're sales people, ALWAYS thinking of the next sale. They'll make you happy now in anticipation of the next sale, but follow through is very different. You are responsible for yourself, stop trusting others words and read for yourself.

Don't know about the warranty questions but the Pro-Cal warranty for the engine is only good to 36,000 miles. The rest of the power train warranty should not be affected, say if your transmission or final drive have a problem according to my careful reading of the Pro-Cal warranty.
Having said that, it sounds like throttle response, driveability and low end torque are your priorities. The Pro-Cal tune nicely addresses this. I think it should be the factory tune as the car is so much nicer to drive. I even picked up an MPG or so as well. The downside is you must always use 91+ octane fuel once the tune is installed.

I run 93 anyways even without a tune. I assume if the tune doesn't void the PT warranty, it won't kill the aftermarket warranty.
Has anyone heard of needing PT things fixed after tuning it with a procal tune? Also, I read something about a tune causing #8 issues or something? Is that a worry?
After three years of beating the **** out my car on the dragstrip (over 100 passes on slicks), I ran a comp check on the motor and it was perfectly at the max allowable on every cylinder, to the pound.
The Procal warranty won't help if you are out of B2B. it replaces the powertrain component of the 3 year B2B with an FRPP warranty, for the duration of the B2B only.
