...the current deluge in SoCal has revealed a leak in my car. I've actually heard a spray/splash sound in the passenger footwell area. The carpet is getting wet. The door seals seem to be good - is this a problem others have had? I don't recall seeing any posts about it...
Next stop dealer.
I did a more refined search and most leaks seem to be from blocked drains . I'll check that when the rain stops ( any day now) but the spray sound fx definitely wouldn't be from a blocked drain. í ½í¸•
Taking it in tues day for the air bag (finally in!) - I'll ask then. Still doing what I can to clear the drains and replace the cabin filter this weekend.
leak I'll say drains for the cabin air filter.....if you DIY it ain't hard. The airbags are released by VIN #'s when your VIN comes up the dealer can order it
I bought my car from Sunrise Ford too (TrueCar deal). I just got the recall notice to make an appointment with them for the airbag replacement. I live in Ventura though, so I'll hold out until my local dealer can do it if necessary.
I believe any dealer can do it...when your VIN comes up is when the parts are allocated. The dealer you contact will then order it to get done at their shop.
I have a 2006 GT. When I first got it about 5 years ago it was summer with blue skies and nothing but dry roads. But I live on the Wet Coast of Canada and it started to rain and my passenger side carpet got wet and there was water trickling down the side panel. I looked at window seals, door seals and finally found he problem. There's a (ready for the technical term) plastic trim piece that snaps into the metal at the base of the windshield. There are two pieces, one starting near the door and running along the base of the windshield and half way across, and another one doing the same but coming from the other side. Check them. Mine being an 06, it might not even have the same setup as yours, but it's worth a look because one end of the passenger piece of trim had come out. I punched it back in with my hand and have never had a leak since. It seemed too simple to be true, but it worked. I was worried though, because everyone I talked to said water leaks are one of the hardest things to find. They can be anywhere. Mine was easy though. Hope yours is too. I just started looking for loose parts and found mine. Don't know about the sound though. I don't recall hearing any splashing or spraying sounds.
Quick update- re the airbag, Sunrise did take care of it after rescheduling a week later because they ran out of parts.
I had them check for a water leak though I suspect I took care of the main culprit by cleaning out the plugged cabin filter box. They ran the hose over it and found nothing but charged me $100 - expensive water in California. That night leaving work, there was a lot of condensation inside. I had to mop the windows to see out. So problem not solved, though the passenger floorboard has dried out.
I have put one of those water absorber buckets inside but it hasn't really seemed to suck up the moisture.
