So the deck lid on the trunk is like peeling.
Took it to Ford and they said they can't do anything because it is not under warranty?
This seems like a manufacturing defect, why would it matter how many miles are on the car?
2014 GT with 55k miles so it obviously under Ford's crappy 36k miles warranty.
My '14 is doing the exact same thing, also just barely out of Ford's warranty. Piss poor paint quality and very annoying. I'll be looking to go with the CJ Pony Parts version of the RTR decklid soon unless I can find a better option. I have never had much luck with AM parts so I avoid them as much as I can now.
Had that happen to me but on mine they did replace it under warranty
they didn't cover my dash tho.
I've seen some dash air bag covers have some discoloration but on that they blamed it on me.
Park the car outdoors in bright sun or have acidic rain where you are? Not blaming you or apologizing for Ford budget sports car QC, just seeing if we can figure out why this happened.
My 14 is under cover all the time unless it's moving and is showing no distress. I'm curious about environmental differences.
Guess there are some benefits to using car sparingly and keeping under cover in the garage most of the time. Sucks for those that want to daily a new car though.
Whats odd is the mustang has this issue, alum hood issues, radio screen issue and who knows what else, but my 15 fusion, my DD and winter car, that has 27K already (stang has only 6K), has none of these problems.
Mine is doing it too. I can live with it until I get the smooth decklid from Cj Pony parts. I think I'm gonna go with the 2015 look out back. Thoughts?
My airbag cover is doing the same thing Mlp07. I bought the car used and I thought someone had tried to use Armor all on it. I tried to clean it with several different products and nothing worked.
So...I think I'm either going to get some out of the aluminum/silver looking ones out of a premium or I'm going to take them out and plasti dip them white. Thoughts on this?
Had the car since new, i don't really know what caused this. Unfortunately ford didn't cover it, as they blamed me for something that happen by itself.... I'm also thinking of getting the aluminum one, but what's stopping me is the airbag. I think some people had a recall on several passenger airbags. Can the trim be removed with the airbag?
That decklid is a cheap design. I really wish they would have just made the decklid one piece with the trunk.
Mine started to warp around the center and bow outwards. Ford replaced it under warranty but it's starting to happen again.
I bought my car in late 2014 when they had significant rebates so am happy with the car given the price I payed. But feel bad for the people who payed close to sticker for the fully loaded models. Because the quality definitely isn't 35k+
They threw all the money at the driveline on this car, as usual. Think what you have to spend to get comparable performance from other brands.
That said, I had pain flake on my old 12 BBP wheels. Ford replaced one early. The 14 seems better in this regard.
The decklid stick on irritates me because if it's raining it collects water and wwhen you open the decklid, it dumps it on whatever is in the trunk. Grrr. Should this occur, I'd take it off, prep it and paint it properly and put 5 coats of clear on it. That'll do the job but, mine's fine thus far.
My 14 GT/CS is doing it as well. It was like that when I bought it... I'm thinking of getting it painted unless I see better options somewhere. I'll be watching this thread and if I find something I'll be sure to share.
Drove mine for two years in the winter before retiring it and have driven it year round but that panel still looks new. The hood did have to get replaced under warranty for aluminum corrosion and the rear decklid was repainted due to defective paint. The biggest PITA has been with the interior, the driver seat bezel broke, the adjustment level broke and the seat belt part that keeps the belt off of your neck broke, all under 45K miles. Minor pains overall, but definitely cheap plastics used.
I'm careful with all interior surfaces on this car. They feel a little flimsy generally. Fortunately, I'm a lightweight at 150 so, I'm not crushing things but, I want to keep it looking ok. I keep it out of the sun and weather on downtime as well.
I do daily drive the car, winter and summer but, I have covered parking at each end of muy commute, fortunately. I've not had one problem with the 14, other than warranty replacing the puddle lamps 2X. The 12 was another story. It started life with paint flake on the BBP wheels, a trans rebuilt by Ford (MT82) within 10k and the replacement of several small parts like a rear shock, rear bar end links and two GPS antennas. All done under warranty. I'll say the shock and rear bar links were probably due to me hammering the **** out of the car at the dragstrip over 100 times on slicks. The trans rebuild was completely unprovoked; the car was barely broken in yet.
