Question Keep S550 3.7 V6 & Buy S197 5.0 V8? or???

Hi all,

I currently have a 2015 S550 3.7 V6 which is financed and I have officially done everything possible to her, except supercharge. (CAI, Longtube Headers, Throttle Body, Catback Exhaust, Shorty Midpipe, 93 MPT Tune, etc)

So I'm in this boat, I have about $30,000 saved up in the bank and am currently not working anymore my 9-5 job, I do graphic/web desigining on the side, but the point is I don't know if I should buy a 11-14 S197 or buy another 15-17 S550, from a private seller.

Surely I cannot get a 2018 GT because I am not working anymore as I was, in the good situation I had back in 2015.

Decisions decisions... I just want to go faster but now i'm stuck with a V6 S550 also.

You don’t have a job but you want to spend your entire savings on a new car?

Try to get 0% financing and finance a leftover 2017 GT with your V6 as a trade in. I'd invest that $30k though especially since you have a nice Mustang already in that V6 S550. Keep the V6, invest the money and just enjoy life.

my .02 is to save your $ until you can (really) afford it. I assume you have the money but having the $ and really affording a luxury item are not the same.

the negative being said the V8 will be faster....I know the V6 is kinda fast, the V8 is real fast.

Return the V6 to stock
Sell the parts
Sell the car
Get a 2015-2017 GT.

A 2015-2016 GT Premium with performance package with under 25k miles can be had for $30,000 all day. Thats what i'm looking at right now.

You did everything to the V6, I?m guessing you?re going to do the same to the V8 so you?ll end up spending more $. It?s your $, spend it as you want but don?t jump in fooling yourself lol. You wanna go faster, get the V8, as others said, a trade and leftover GT should suite you.

Don't buy anything until you have a secure full time job. And even then you should have about 3 months pay sitting in the bank for a rainy day, 6 months would be better.

Keep V6, save for 18, 10 SPD, trade/sell V6 when ready. N/A 18's are going to be crazy fast in short order.

The 18 auto is quite a surprise in stock form, already. It does need a tune to release some high rpm power though, surprisingly. I found it soggy up top.

Hence, there always being something better, I'd not go back to an S197, if you are likeing the S550. Save up for an S550 V8, if that's what you want and I'd stock out the 3.7, as they are a hard sell in modified form.
