So i bit the bullet on the MGW X-Spec short throw. I want to install it myself. I have all the tools for it but i have never installed a shifter before. I have some mechanical experience. I was wondering if any of you have done it before and could tell me how easy/hard this is and if i should do it myself or take it in. I think i can do it but my confidence isnt all there. Thanks
idk how much harder it is but I did one of the orig spec ones. It took 1/2 day of just basic wrenching. Look at MGW's web sight...they have videos. If you can turn a wrench you can do this install. Put out a shout if there is a local member near you...offer to buy lunch for a 2nd pair of hands
Wel i did it. Got under the car after taking the console and top part off abd thought to myself “oh this is easy”. So the shifter is installed and doing great! Only part that gave me trouble was the bolt on top of the tranny
I installed mine not to bad, watch there videos and plan on a couple of good hours under the car. Good way to get familiar with the car, the shifter is worth it and good learning experience!
