Cracked muffler/ pressure loss?

My commuter car is a 93 4 banger. I cracked the inlet side of my muffler on a mammoth speed bump. Besides the funny puttering sound, my car wants to shut down when I come to a stop. Could this be a loss of back pressure? If so is their a quick fix to get me to work before I get a new cat back/muffler?

If the muffler is the only this that is damaged that won't cause a problem. A muffler is for sound but i would check something else to see what else was hurt

Re: Cracked muffler/ pressure loss?

back pressure is a myth so don't even consider it....when you ripped the muffler on the bump you may have pulled the wiring on the upstream o2 sensors...i'd check them first
