Re: Any one with mustang skills

the old 4-cyl turbos were pretty quick, but I wouldn't waste too much money trying to build on the 2.3 for performance... maybe just go with some cosmetic mods and get yourself a great car to just go cruising in with that top down!

Used to have an 87 2.3 convertable. Thing was slow as molases and going uphill was a nightmare. The car is just too heavy for that underpowered engine. With fox bodies its either V8 or nothing, sorry buddy.

Re: Any one with mustang skills

On the upside if the car's in good running condition it will get great mpgs

If you throw on some nice wheels and maybe a few cosmetic mods it'll be a hot looking econo car.

Re: Any one with mustang skills

yup, i too had the 2.3 wit the dual plug... u had too tach it up and dump the clutch to get sum wheel spin... and it still made u work for it...lol. then a few months later i dropped in supercharged v8.. but the mpgs as mentioned earlier were pretty good. i would totaly drive it wit pride wit the current fuel prices...

I just bought a 93 2.3 coupe, not as slow as I thought but 4cyl bodies and interiors are generally not as ragged out. Everything works on it and is a good car, I have owned 2 5.0 cars before but I find myself liking this car the more I drive it, runs and cruises smooth. Don't hang your head in shame, you still own a fox body, welcome to the family

Hell if I could find a decent one for cheap I'd use it as a dd in the non winter weather...I'd throw on my stock 16's, do a few cosmetic mods to spruce her up and call it a day. Then when I was done with the 4 banger I'd yank it and throw a v8 in.

Re: Any one with mustang skills

y would u do that. when a guy with a v8 sees a 4 banger pass them or beat them in a race it hurts way more than it would with a v8

Re: Any one with mustang skills

id get a bargain basement ebay turbo kit... run it til it blows til u save up for better turbo and intercooler. but atleast u would have all the tubing and be 80-90% there. justa thought.

and i have an ebay obcession anyway

A Turbo will help I have the same motor and I made a custom cold air intake for mine, it is quicker 0-60 haven't quite timed it yet, and my wheels spin pretty easy and quick.
