Re: insurance

A lot more than you want to pay... I'm 17 and i'm only looking into an 05 V6 lol... If you want it because its a special car then get it, but if you are looking for performance then get the V6 and just put mods into it. I know a lot of people here are going to say choose the v8 instead of the v6 but if it is your first car (just assuming) then start out with the v6. (Another reason i'm not getting the GT is because there is no way in hell my parents are letting me).

---------- Post added at 04:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:39 PM ----------

My parents are paying my insurance right now, and its over $100 a month for me only driving a truck with a good student discount.

Get the mach1 it'd be sick or 05-09 v6 because the body styling is cooler

Re: insurance

Tell your friend to piss off, so when he wraps himself around a tree he doesn't take you with him...trust me, I've seen too many of us youngin's NOT keep them between the ditches, and it's not pretty

I wanted the Mach 1 when I was 15 as well...2 things kept me from buying one...it was 05 so they were still pretty pricey, and even if they were cheaper insurance was insane...I could've insured a z06 vette lol.

When I put my v6 on my own insurance at 16, it was ~$2000 a year for full coverage, and that was with the good student discount and discount for the family having multiple policies with the same company.

So unless you have very nice and generous parents or a pretty healthy income at 16, I'd suggest a newer v6 or 99-04 GT. Get some quotes for a 99-04 GT...still a quick car and you'll get that v8 rumble.

Would you be paying cash for the car or financing?

My 03 mach 1 costs me a whopping 72.16$ /mo. 24, clean record, race lisence, high performance driving school certificate, and an advanced defensive driving course. Hell I can insure it for 1 non passing race event a month for another 35$. (Drag, auto x, time attack.)

Look into stuff at local tracks. And find an insurance provider that takes it into account. Also keep all recipts from courses like that. The racing lisence is really just the slip that says you have been through the new drivers meetings and taken a track test so you don't have to go through all of the new driver meetings every time. Saac is what mine is. Southern alberta auto club I think. Not that useful anymore because they just closed the track here.

I would say a good chunk, I am 19 and I'm fortunate cause I only pay 85 a month for full coverage insurance on my 01 v6

I agree with you. My first car was an 02 mustang v6 in red. 5 speed. The insurance was on the high but I didn't kill myself in the thing because it had just enough power to scare the mess out of you but control it. Now I drive a 11 v6 with 305 and gears. It's all about experience.

+1 to that lol I think under my mom and everything it's like 1,200 every six months. But her 2010 camaro is 550 every 6 months for full coverage.

It's going to be quite expensive regardless, your a teenager, a guy, and in a high profile muscle car. Your best bet is to get on your parents insurance and hope its still kind of low.

Don't have him insure you have him insure himself in your car and you drive it..

I'm 18 and just bought a 05 v6, for the full coverage it's $200 a month! That's with a clean record and military discount.

Actually, I was trying to draw a comment from my American friends. Their insurance covers medical expenses on the case of accidents and litigation, where us Aussies are covered my Medicare for a mere 0.5% of our income. Oops, that sounds really bad too I suppose. Back to my original statement....MOVE TO AUSTRALIA!!
