Mach 1 quarter mile

Saw a you tube vid of a guy and in a mach 1 run a 12 sec 1/4 mile with only gears, a tune, and some slicks? He said it had stock exhaust, suspension, and everything else. Possible?

A car that weighs 3420 lbs and is trapping 112 has more power than a "stock" Mach 1 would have.

All that car has is an X pipe, gears, drop in KN filter and tune. Sorry, but that doesn't add up. You need a bit more than 300whp to trap 112 in a 3400 lbs car.

I witnessed a Mach 1 at Famoso Raceway run 12 flat with slicks, longtubes, 4.30's and 75-shot of nitrous. He had also removed as much weight as possible from the car.

My Mach has 4.10s, and nothing else. My "butt dyno" leads me to believe the car is capable of 14.0, MAYBE 13.9. If I got someone who is lighter than me to drive. And the planets all aligned. And a tail wind.

Maybe I need to just bite the bullet and go out for the next "Test and Tune" night and see for myself what this crate will do. Maybe I'll be surprised. If only I could find some better gas... she doesn't like California 91 octane.

Stock it should be capable of 13.2-13.5 depending on conditions. A few mods and I'm thinking I can run under 12.5-13.

Here's a pic of our '69 Mach 1. Last time out it spun half way down the track and still ran 7.79 @ 177mph in the 1/4.

I get locked outa 3rd all the time, but that mod is coming soon. It's happened on my gt s and my mach. There's a firewall adjuster and clutch quadrant that eliminates the lockout so I've read.

I put in a trans bushing that helped this past time but I couldn't get traction so I didn't get good results. I could shift but everytime I shifted into second the tires would break free. I need to upgrade the suspension and get a set of radials.

I read something about a rubber bushing and plastic pieces in the stock application that allow it to flex and in return you can miss or get locked out of gear. The aftermarket kit eliminates the rubber and plastic pieces. Bugs the crap out of me! I thought it was my driving at first but then started reading up on it.

Yea mine is an insert that fills in the gaps that the stocker leaves open. Ford had the bright idea of leaving holes in the stock bushing.
