Mach 1 shifter rattle

So I have an 04 Mach. And lately when I've been driving in 1-3-5 the shifter rattles. It also seems to have a lot of slop in those gears. But 2-4 are fine, a nice tight feel with no slop. I've read that these tr3650 have issues like this. I'm gonna do a trans fluid change soon. But I was wondering if anyone else had this issue, Or knew of a solution to this annoying issue

It sounds like worn shift forks. Unfortunately I am not a drive train expert. Hopefully you have a simple and easy repair.

Is worn shift forks a big repair? I like to think I have decent mechanical skills. But I do have limits lol

You have to pull the bell housing and case of the transmission.

I am sure I could learn to do the job. It doesn't appear complicated. I have not opened my transmission yet because I am not confident in my own ability with the gear box.

I found time to take a look at the shifter. When I swapped the shifters about. I took the SR shifter handle and put it on the stock shifter and I guess I never tightened those 2 bolts down and must have came loose after a while. Stupid mistake but I'm glad it wasn't anything major
