Shelby question

So I'm at the Ford dealership getting my oil changed and I happen to look at the 2010 Shelby GT500 and I was wondering what psi do they run factory? I was just wondering if anyone could fill me in with some info about the Shelby GT500, like boost, engine strength, pull, or just anything interesting? I'm a Saleen guy but curious about the Shelby?

I think they top out at 9 or 10 psi stock. Not sure on hp. The 2011 is rated at 550hp. Might be the same.

Well you can change the pulley to get more horsepower but how much can the stock engine hold? And the 550 is just crank horsepower but is there anything else that is really amazing with them? Has anyone driven or had a ride in one?

I've played with one on the hwy with my cobra. It's a fast car. The bottom end is good for over 800hp from what I am told. It has potential to be a monster. Stock it's pretty damn fast though. I've got 574hp at the wheels and I didn't take him by much at cruising speeds. Worth the money in my opinion.

Yeah that's pretty sweet info, I have always thought it was a beast just because of the bigger engine and the supercharger, but if the bottom end is good to 800 HP, that is really impressive, I just hope in the future they can bring back the 5.8! Ford has been doing pretty good with keeping up with the camaro, charger, Challenger and even some Corvettes with a smaller engine block but I keep thinking if they dropped the 5.8 in the Shelby and supercharged it, it would be almost untouchable?

Re: Shelby question

They just ran a article in one of the mustang mags with the 2011 5.0 and 2011 GT500 which stated that the 5.0 pulled more HP at the same boost than the GT500.The jury is still out on how much that 5.0 can handle though.

My dad has a 2010 it is AMAZING. I have the new 5.0 and the only way I can even stay close is because I rev higher. From about 3-4 when his s/c kicks in he jumps out about 2-3 cars and keeps pulling. Stock crank HP is 540. Rwhp is somewhere around 480 I believe not positive. Intake pulley handheld tune he's at 700, easy.

I have a 2011. 9lbs of boost is stock and it pushes like a rocket. Turn off the traction control and it's almost better than sex..almost.

Re: Shelby question

the GT500's are great cars and put many other "custom" mustangs to shame in stock form. The motor will handle TONS of power. A friend of mine has an 08 with 600+rwhp without many mods.

As said the motors will take tons of power and stock is 8-9psi. For 2k (pulley, intake, exhaust, tune) you should bump up from 430rwhp stock (for the 500hp at motor versions) to around 550rwhp or so~ not bad...

they are heavy at 3900lbs in coupe, live axle rear end, runs 12s stock, the 2011s I think got 50more hp (not that its a big deal just simple changes you can also do).

didnt the 2010's get the aluminum block or was that 2011? If they did they are lighter by a good bit.
