'm looking to replace the original Goodyear F-1 Supercar tires on my '08 GT500, what's the consensus on different brands? Has anyone used the new Nitto Motivos?

Well I had a set of Nitto 555s on my '07 GT, which had a lowering kit on it and Foose rims. It was a great in that it hugged the road and even at 150 MPH I felt comfortable, but the lowering part made me get dings in my rims and I was constantly bottoming out on stuff, like driveways, causing damage to the front spoiler and undercarriage. I didn't have the car long, enough to see how the tires wore out in short order. I traded it in on my GT500. I went through the first set of Goodyear F-1s in about 14,000 miles on the rear and the front lasted only 18,000 miles. On my second set I am looking at having to replace the rears again with only 14,000 on them. I have not done any burnouts on this second set, but did a lot with the first set, but seems it made little difference in their wear?! I am looking for something a little longer wearing and something that can give me more hook up off the line. Anyone with experience with other brands? ---------- Post added at 06:01 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:59 AM ---------- Let me clarify about the Nittos, I did not have them long enough to see how they wore, compared to the Goodyears on my GT500.

And wow..... That's pretty fast wear!

I'm anxious to read some of the responses here. I'm at 9000 miles on my 09 Shelby, & I am not super impressed with the F1 tires. They look fine, but I cannot keep traction with them. Off the line you expect it, but when I shift hard into 3rd, its all I can do to keep her between the ditches.

I too had to replace my Eagles, but it was because when I lowered I didn't originally install camber plates. The toe was too much for 250 highway mile weekend trips . So when I paid to have the plates installed I switched to Continental Extreme Contact DWS Tuned. They were rated highly, and where less than the Eagles. I can honestly say that I have had no issue with them. The original Eagles are still on the back and at 30K they are showing wear in the center of the tire tread, so they will be swapped out after my deployment to the Stan.

Michelin pilot sport PS2. I've seen them last usually from 30-40k and they grip like crazy. I work for a tire dealer

I am at 17k with my Eagles and am sweating wether to replace them or not. I need to stop by the tire shop and ask them to check my tire tread depth.
I heard good things about the Continental Extremes...

The are quieter, stickier and will hold up better in the rain. may not last as long though strictly due to them being UHP summer tires. I've never seen a set coming off a vehicle with less than 30k on them, but I can't say for sure the driving style of the m3's and corvette owners that were driving.
They are very expensive but very well worth the money if you can afford them

I heard good things about the Continental Extremes... | Yup.. All highway driving. I leave for Afghanistan in a month so I will look at them hard while on block leave. I am planning on replacing them when I get back, however I might do them prior to deployment. The fronts have 13K on them (continental extremes DWS) and they look great.

Be safe in the box, I am Army out of Ft Bliss at the moment. I haven't stopped by autozone to have them measure my tread depth yet. But your time on the rears is impressive. My miles are all hwy as well. I travel to Ft Sill, OK quite often.
Be safe
