| Governer on Shelby gt500
Hi all newbie to the mustang world. Been spending some time on the forum from the shadows, seems like a great bunch of people here! Never had a mustang before been itching for one the last couple years but couldn't resist the new Shelby coming out, so I ordered one. Been on 7-12's since I decided to get my dream ride. Have a question, seen a little snippet in an article that they might govern all the shelbies so I asked my salesman about it. He got back to me today and said yes. Just looking for verication if that's true. Not saying that I need to go over 155 but hey you never know. Sorry about the novel for a post.

The Shelby's have a governor that is activated during the break in period. Once you have gone the initial (500 miles, I think) the computer will reset it back to where it is supposed to be. I believe it also limits the boost that the blower makes during the break in period.......although I don't know where I've heard that, and it might be completely false!

To 0 psi for the first 500-1000 miles never heard an exact number. (using a boost bypass valve, google a boost bypass valve)
2. Like always with mustangs, the speed governor is all in the computer. Get a good tuner and you can turn it off.
Have fun!

Thanks all for the replies. Not really gonna do anything to the car till warranty is up. Gonna have to google that valve. Asked my salesman if they have the computer set for break in purpose he said no its set like that so the delivery people don't joy ride the car. So not sure what's up.

Track key would be a great idea. The reason for the temporary limit is so that you don't blow up the engine before everything gets "settled in". Everyone has a different opinion on how to break in a motor, but most mfgs suggest no continuous highway driving, no over-revving, no dumping the clutch, ect.
Now, I know I've never done any of those on a test drive.... |

if you undo the battery and hook it back up I believe it removes the 500 mile limiter

Heard about doing that with the battery, but if there is a 500 mile break in period ill follow the mfg recommendations. Guess the wife will be driving the car alot for the first 500 haha. Can't wait to get in that thing. Haven't been in a mustang since the late 90's.

Your salesman is stupid, Governor is for break-in of the super charger, mix of miles and key cycles. And NO to disconnecting the battery, that does not work on any car made after 2011. You can't erace the key cycles or Tuning info anymore

The Supercharger limit is 5 miles or 50 start ups.
From the Shelby GT500 Supplement Manual Quote:
ALTERNATE CALIBRATION
Your Shelby GT500 power train control module (PCM) strategy contains
a feature to limit supercharger boost pressure and engine speed to
4000 rpm for the first five consecutive miles of vehicle operation or 50
engine start/warm up cycles. This feature is enabled prior to shipment. If neither of these conditions have been satisfied prior to customer
delivery, full power will not be available.

You can't shut it off but you can set it so you'll never reach it....you can set it after you have it retuned...
