| '10-'13 Shelby Owners: A little assistance?
I just bought a hood heat extractor for my '13 Mustang. I'm going to cut the hood and install it, but I would like to get the measurements right so the placement is like the Shelby's.
Could one of you guys measure the distance from the front lip of the hood to where the heat extractor starts on the exterior? Also, I'd really appreciate a picture of the underside of the hood. I have no idea if these cars have any kind of drain pan or water deflector.
I appreciate any help you guys can give. |

The heat extractor is 11 1/4" from the lip of the hood.

Let me know if you need anything else. I did want to mention that the cut out in the hood is recessed slightly where the heat extractor sits. If you need better pics ill be happy to supply.

It doesn't surprise me it is (I can actually see it in your under-side photo). It would give positive placement and more "flush" appearance. Still, plenty of guys install these top-side on other vehicles and it hasn't been an issue. I doubt it will be for me.
I think that's all the photos I need, I'm just really surprised it doesn't have a deflector at all. Even the '13 5.0s have deflectors to kind of push the water around. Now I can start this project, weather permitting. Thank you again!

Impressive! I don't think I'd have the stones to carve up my new hood. You or whoever did it did a great job.

A guy ran over my car about two weeks ago. When I took it to the body shop, I asked the owner about it and he seemed happy to try it. They did an amazing job.
