Modding the Shelby

I was wondering how many of you are or plan to do some mods to your Shelby.
Not for racing, but just because. I in no way need more power, but do plan to do a few little things. One thing I am thinking about is AB's. I love the sound of the ones from the factory, but would like a little louder, and would like my car to sound different than the other ones on the road, mainly the guys at my work that also drive a Shelby.

I found Borla Ataks for our cars for $881, that's a few hundred less than anywhere I have seen. Do you guys know if the Borla's sound as good on these cars as they do on the 5.0?

A bud has some on his 08 shelby- they have some drone in my personal opinion. It does sound nice but after pushing the gas and when the rpms come down i didnt like it too much

Jlt oil separator and frpp intake tube is all i am doing. Interior mods- billet aluminum handles- but nothing motor wise

Am almost complete on my 2011, had planned to mod it even before it was ordered. Had a goal from the start, & reached it.
.......( one of the things I didn't do was change the stock mufflers )
I just ordered a 140mm MAF housing & air tube for my 2014, just like the 11, following a plan.
I think the % of owners who buy a Shelby & leave it stock is very low.

^ I agree 100%. Part of the fun is making it your own. I keep every stock part that comes off of it.

Part of the not so fun is voiding the warranty lol.

If i owned- a 10-11 with title in hand- efff yea...but not something brand new and has a warranty lol

I wouldn't void the warranty either lol.

I'd do axle backs, tint, something like that. Not performance mods. Not until there was no warranty.

I will not do anything to void the warranty. Don't want to do anything big. Like I said, I don't need more power.
I tinted the windows yesterday, put a shorty antenna on there. Next plans are nicer floor mats and hood struts. Then maybe the A/B's.
The Borla's sounded awesome on my GT, and no drone, but if they drone on the Shelby, I won't even bother.
I was mostly just curious because there are 4 other guys at work that drive Shelby's and only one of them doing some mods, and his mods have been mostly engine dress up.

Warranty wasn't a concern on the 11, delivered on 3 July 2010, I did a FRPP 750 kit in April 2011, 2586 miles on it. Consider an SS conversion " voiding the warranty ", if that was on most owners minds, Shelby would go out of business. These types of upgrades have been proven over the years, to be pretty reliable. Am looking forward to modding my 14, my concern is getting the clutch broken in, ( 285.4 miles ), before I start. The key is to go to a shop that knows what they are doing..................& there are a lot out there that don't.

HA... I love this forum...

I have had zero issues with anything. 2nd gear working just fine. 1300 miles on her, 1000 of them from Minneapolis to Texas though.

Haven't had it out in any real cold weather yet, Ford doesn't recommend driving it under 40*........on the summer tires.
I have had the 11 out in 20* with no 2nd gear issues.
At the shows I attend, 3 changes ( mods ) from stock is modified. ( floor mats is one )

I have 7200 miles on mine and have it had it out in 20 some degree weather without any problems shifting from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd. Now I have a beater I will not be taken it out in cold weather unless the Sun is shinning and there is no salt on the roads and the well that don't happen here in Ohio until March so it might be awhile.

Borla ATAK axle backs sound great on my '13. Deep aggressive growl. No drone. Turns heads in a good way - not offensive or obnoxious.

Warning: makes people grin. If grin lasts 24 hours, seek medical help.

This is the plan for the 14.
I have several things in a spare room waiting for warmer weather to install.
All the performance mods should be @ the tuner.
The hold-up is and has been the weather, my 2011 should have been in the shop by now, still waiting for a call.
The 14 won't start till the 11 is finished.

Modding the Shelby

We've done a few minor mods to our 2013 because our car performs & sounds great. The secret; it's a convertible! No need to go with any different exhaust to hear it better.

We've changed wheels, tires, air filter, added oil cans, floor mats, hood struts and changed the shift ball. But really, this car is great right from the factory!
