Fuel question

I bought a 2014 GT500 in November. I live in Alaska and the car being stored by the dealer in Ohio until Spring, when I will pick it up and enjoy a nice, invigorating road trip. I had the dealer send me all the owner's manuals to read up on everything. The book says to use 91 or higher octane (93 or higher octane for optimal performance). It further says that use of gasoline with an octane rating lower than 91 can lead to severe mechanical damage to the vehicle.

My problem is that the highest octane rating I have found thus far in Juneau is 90. Is there a quality octane booster available that actually works and won't damage the engine? Any input is appreciated. Thanks and Happy New Year.

Ur best best might be to get a local tune in AK with 90 oct. Do this after u buy a pulley and tb as every gt500 owner eventually does! Nice ride btw. Enjoy the drive.

Where in Ohio did you buy your car? If you are close to me we can run together for awhile

I wouldn't recommend upgrading if he can't run the right gas lol

Car is in Dover. Plan on picking it up the first week of April. Visiting friends and relatives along the way home. Planning on being in Vegas for the Shelby Bash as long as things go as planned.

Upgrades are fine as long as the tune matches the fuel, just a tune with upgrades for say 89 octane won't be as much as a tune for 93 octane.

Yea, this is what I was trying to convey. U can have ur tuner tune it on 85 oct if thats all u have around! Whatever octane you can find reasonably well in ur home area is what I would tune to. May lose hp, but it will run much better overall.

Thanks for the input. My biggest concern is that I don't damage the engine. We only have about 45 miles of paved road here in Juneau so it's no like I really need 662 HP........it's just nice to be able to say I have it.

Wahooo! That's 15.8 hp per mile! Think that's a. New record! Lol!
And half the year it's snow covered... The other half is rain! Haha.
Funny. The very first time I saw a Lexis isF was there! I thought, "funny place for a v8!"

As you've got time till spring, contact SVT, ( 800 ) 367-3788. Tell them your problem & ask for a solution.
My solution would be adding 100 octane to whatever comes out of the pumps in Alaska.

Great topic! I just picked up a 2012 down here in Texas where I work, but I am trying to get back on the slope (it's an Alaska thing) and when I do, I'll ship it home. I live in Wasilla, so there are a few places where I can find 91 octane, but even that's a little scarce
