Best Aftermarket GT500 Exhaust

Ok boys the title is pretty self explanatory, I'm in the market now and the axel back dumps are just too loud and I'm over it. Who has the best cat back system. I want the true muscle car sound and no drone really.

I understand that but I live here so I have to put up with some pot holes and this year no snow like last year. It is parked in the garage with a cover on it waiting for a little warmer day to bring it out and at least warm it up. Have fun

Check out youtube, search " GT500 exhaust videos ", several things come up.
I don't run an after market axle back, more interested in hp than noise.

I'm all for more power as well, after warrantee in up though my 12 only has 9k miles on it. Also when you make more power you have to get rid of that exhaust quicker, they don't put borla systems on super snakes and shelby 1000's just for the noise.

I've also been all over YouTube and every manufacturer has videos on their web sites. I'm asking for actual hands on experience from people to find out the truth not a salesman's pitch

I second the stainless steelworks. I had their retro catback on my 11 GTCS and it had a totally different sound than any other cars around here. Loved it so much I bought the system made for the gt500 and put it on my 12 GT500. Tips are nice and sound is loud but not annoyingly loudClick image for larger version

I haven't noticed any drone, the only issue I noticed is it takes a little bit of work to get the right rear adjusted.

Are you just running axel backs or full cat backs?

Mine is the full catback retro system they sell. It was about 800 if I remember correct.

Oh ok I was gonna say I had a similar issue with just my axel backs had to loosen move and re tighten everything. That's not bad at all. There's a company in az that caries them. I can get borla atak full cat back for $800 shipped... That's my other option now

.
Axle backs are just about the 1st mod EVERYONE does, why, because everyone wants to sound like they are making big hp. ( look @ me, I'm a race car )
SA puts Borla systems on because they can make money doing it.....& the public expects big noise from big hp.
The muffler mfg. want you to believe their system will give you 50rwhp, when in reality, a set of long tubes may give you 30 on a dyno. ( the stock exhaust headers are that good )

The videos I found weren't from mfg.'s
Why don't you try a set of long tubes, o/r X pipe, if your state allows it. You may find out the stock exhaust doesn't sound all that bad.
But if you want noise, Roush extreme axle backs will fill the bill, make a six banger sound like a super snake......( look @ me, I'm a race car )

Ok I have I new idea now thanks to American muscle and protect mmd. I think I'm going to do the boss quad exhaust without the resonator plates and get pipes made to go straight out to
Black large oval tips out the rear. Kind of like the new super snake ones

I was going to do the boss h pipe but it's so expensive for the gt500 and still has to be cut / welded in. If you do it I would definitely like to hear how it went.

I know 999.99 just for the h pipe and side exhaust and having the other made another 200 from my guy but it would be unique and probably not copied

That's exactly what I was thinking is well I would be the only one. I just don't think I can come off that much money for such a small part.

Damn that's not a bad deal... Is it me or does it look like the one from AM comes with more? And I'm gonna wait till I get back in the states in the fall. I'm hoping the price to go down as well somewhere in the 600 range

I don't know if the American muscle has more parts but that is directly from Ford. The installation instructions on that site are very good as well.

True it's probably the same package, I don't know why it would be different. Have you heard anything with issues running long tubes with the h pipe as well?

The only reason I haven't changed to long tubes and a mid pipe is because I don't want to tune my car. I haven't heard of any issues
