MGW Ordered

I just ordered my MGW shifter with the black ball and red stripes to match the current interior. I can't wait to get it in and get it installed!

I have been thinking about getting one myself. Please let me know how you like it.
Are you installing yourself, or having a shop do it?

If you don't want to keep it, channel locks will bring it off.

I love my MGW and removing the stock knob is not hard at all. I twisted mines right off. I installed it myself but I also had access to a lift which made it much easier. Take your. Time and watch the video once before you start and for reference while you install it.

You got lucky on yours...'13 and up have been notorious for the assemblers having used a lot of loc-tite on the shifter ball threads.

Didn't know if you were talking to me or not but here are a few. OP, if you have a premium you will have to disconnect a few extra pieces than the video shows due to the lighting in the cup holders as seen in the photo below. They work with a base model in the video.

I see you have a GT, it might be a GT500 thing, especially those of us with the track pack.

After a review of this thread I realized the OP has a GT. My comments about it being a difficult removal were towards GT500 owners as this is where the thread is located...perhaps the OP wants to have the thread moved to the appropriate section?

Realized I never provided an update. After the MGW install I have absolutely no 1-2 grind. I can slam 1-2 with no hesitation needed to avoid the grind. It's like a completely new car.

For what it's worth during the install you can set the turns on the base of the shifter to adjust shift distance etc. The instructions say 3-6 turns is recommended and not to exceed 10 turns. I did 4 and like I said no more grind!!!!!

I just installed mine this weekend. Set it to 5 turns and used the track use rubber mount in the rear bracket. Works great with no more 1-2 grind and the throws are noticeably shorter. Great product and easy to install with a lift! The hardest part was getting the factory shift knob off.
