Shift Ball Removeal

Howdy all I was at Mustang Alley during Woodward this year and ordered a Shift Ball that matched my car. Now my question is simple.

I know the ball unscrews and to use a strap wrench to remove it. Do I have to loosen the aluminum piece below it?

If so how?

Thanks pictures to follow when I get it done.

well put the strap wrench on it pulled pretty hard and it cam loose right away. Went to install the new one and it came with the wrong adapter I asked them three times to make sure they had included the right adapter. Oh well I guess I can wait until next weekend to show it off.

I just used the OEM adapter that came on my Shelby and drilled the adapter hole bigger and just slipped it on with my new shiftier. I used hot water to remove the adapter from the old ball.

I meant the new ball not a new shiftier. My Shelby is stock and same as yours if you didn't change out your shiftier

OK so next time when I read a post I might want to really read it I understand now what you mean I took it the other way that you had to drill out you ball. MRT is sending a new adapter and I should have it today so I can get this done this weekend.

Thanks

hint....if you wrap the shift lever with Teflon tape it works well to prevent unscrewing of your new knob.
