In my personal opinion this is just a modernized boss 302. I'm not sure about the flat head 5.2 motor either. Something tells me that Ford should have done a little bit more testing. What is wrong with the 5.8? Why is this car not supercharged. Shelby is supposed to be the top of the linemustang. Why not throw a supercharger on it? I understand that the rumors are the GT500 will have one but at the end of the day if you're going to have the Shelby cobra logo you need to have more power!

I think the 2016 GT350 will make a great update for anyone who bought a 2015 MY Mustang.

Here is what I think. Not digging the new body style the power train and suspension etc seem solid. I guess we will get used to them. As for the GT350 I like the idea lets see where it goes from here.

1 - This is not a modernized Boss, this is a totally new platform, new engine and brand new suspension.

2 - What is wrong with the 5.8? Not capable of the RPM they want for road racing and that the new 5.2 is capable of right out of the box.

3 - Not supercharged because does not need to be. 500+ with a suspected 9K+ redline is great.

4 - The 350 is about handling, the 500 will be about power and the 1/4, two completely different animals.

Not sure what point you are trying to make... this car is exactly what was suspected and there were really no surprises. If/when the 500 comes out, look for a mega powered 1/4 mile monster. Although with the times they are running now and the easily 700+whp capable GT500s from even the older 07s... not sure how much more they need.

The issue with the 5.8 was that it made the car push like a pig (heavy front end) and the stroke of 4.125" is wayyyyyyy too long for the rpms they want. And believe it or not you don't want a ton of torque for road racing. You need horsepower that builds in high rpms, too much torque in the low rpms and you lose grip coming out of corners.

I personally love the new 5.2 motor. 500+ horsepower NA at 8200 rpm stock, that may be an option for a motor swap in my car in the future. I'm positive there will be people to get it to 9k rpm. And it absolutely needs to be NA, any forced induction creates too much heat.

It's clear you have not driven the 621 hp shelby. That is the most ridiculous thing I have heard. I will stick with my 2014 gt500 with 315's on the rear all day long.

The GT500 is fast don't get me wrong. But that car is a horrible road racer, super heavy front end and mediocre brakes, it is a better drag racer than anything, I wouldn't attempt corners with it.The GT350 is a road racer, not a drag racer. HUGE differences in how the cars are set up.

And that is why I said in my humble opinion it is just a souped up boss 302 which is known to be more of a track then a drag race

I drove took my 2014 gt500 to Sebring and lost very little in turns with vipers, BMWS, and Porsche's...and beat them all on the straights. I agree hooking up with the stock 285's is a challenge, but replacing with 315's will take care of that.

A great circle track driver in a non-prepped car will kick the **** out of an average driver in a prepped one. Put this GT350 up against a 2014 GT500 both with professional drivers and it would be an utter and complete wtfpwning of the GT500. Hell, the 12/13 Boss or the 15GT would also beat its ***.

He is. You may be a good driver. We don't know. But I would trust Matt Farah's opinion of how good it is as a track car over yours.

GT500 is fast for a lap or two, but every single test done has shown that it gets slower and slower each lap.

A review straight from Matt Farah.

Everything You Wanted to Know About the 2013 Shelby GT500 | The Smoking Tire

And to sum it up here is the end of it, and i quote:

"The Shelby, at the end of the day, feels like it was built for magazine covers, keyboard racers, and web warriors, not for drivers. That’s what the Boss is for, especially the Laguna Seca version. I’d buy the Boss, drive it for a year, then send it to John Hennessey for his V700 conversion and have a faster, better handling car than the GT500 that is also more fun to drive."

Only on a track- not in a straight shot- lol- which is why i have owned 2 gt500s.

So is it now safe to say that the GT 350 is a souped up boss 302? Seems I had a hater earlier

Notorious R.o.B
If you're talking about me, I'm not hating, I'm just stating simple facts. The GT350 is more than a souped up Boss, its a completely different animal. Honestly I'd go as far as to say the 2015 GT is more like a souped up version of the Boss. Similar power output and better suspension for handling. Also seems like the IRS is holding up well for Bama since they replaced the stock halfshafts for beefed up ones, rubber bushings and all.

And as for a straight shot... if you want a straight shot car at the 1/4 get an auto Coyote. GT500 is for roll racing and that's where they are really sick.

Shelby GT350

Straight line = fast car
Corner = fast driver & car

Anyone can mash the gas pedal in a straight line, takes a completely different animal to pull fast laps around the Nurburgring.
