Engine Detailing

Well I went and changed my oil this weekend and detailed the inside and outside of my car. When I was adding the oil I noticed the aluminum and other parts seemed to have a white looking stuff on it. Also the bolts that hold the head covers in place are starting to show there age. What do you guys use to clean this or do you just let it be. I drive it daily in the summer and I know it gets dirty fast just trying to keep it up as I go along.

There are several products on the market that claim to clean white off, some are $$$$$.
I have had good success with straight vinegar & a small sash brush, to get in the crevasses.
It's cheap, and does a reasonable job, seems to impede the white from coming back to an extent.

Thanks I am all about saving money. I will try the vinegar trick to see how it does.

Engine Detailing

I'd be interested in some before and after photos. My engine could use some attention, previous owner could've cared less for the car and I'm trying to bring it back to its former glory...

I am in MA this week and will not be home until Friday night. I will be doing it this weekend because Wednesday I will be heading to Jeff City MO for Shelby Fest.

I had a chance to try this yesterday. It took the light stuff off fast and easy and worked pretty fast. I used a soft brush not made of metal to apply it let it sit a little bit then rinsed it off with fresh water. Took the car for a drive to warm it up and dry it off. I would do this again.

Just give it a shot Steve. From start to finish was under 20 minutes. The only hard part was getting started, after that it was easy.
