Under 3000 mile 2008 GT500

I have a chance to buy an under 3000 mile 2008 GT500 for a reasonable price.
My question is the drivetrain the same as the 2009 GT500?

Should be. They didn't really change them up until 2013 did they? Beautiful cars though.

Thanks Nate.
I just wondered when they changed from the cracked powder rods...I thought the GT500 got "forged" cracked powder rods very similar to the Boss 302..

If you buy this car, please take it and preserve it. Don't take a rare thing like this out and put a ton of miles on it! Think about what a '65 GT-350 with 3,000 miles on it would mean today...

I'm really torn about this. Earlier this year I got a 03 Terminator with 5500 miles on it and it's bone stock. It now has 5900 miles.
If I get the 2008 GT500 I just don't want to keep it in the garage under cover...sure I wouldn't take it out in the rain or bad weather...The other thing this is not even close to what a 65 GT350 is in any stretch of the imagination as it's not that rare and maybe 50 years from now it will be and since I won't be around it's disputable....for me anyway.
The only thing I would change would be to lower the rear end just a little so it doesn't look like a 4x4. Don't worry, I'd keep the original springs.

This car will be worth nothing in 50 years if it has 3000 miles or 300000 miles. Secondly, ole rodder should enjoy the hell out of it till he can't anymore. If you have been around you know ole rodder is in his 70's, who the hell is he saving it for? Lol

Ole rodder I hope you live to be 100+ and drive it like you stole it up to that point sir.

Yes, lowering would be a must and it would certainly make a good nice day driver.

I didn't want to say that I'm an Ole Fart and I'm just kind of board with the 14 TrakPak. I don't want to spend any more money in it and just want a GT500....along with not wanting to spend an arm and leg.

Thanks Guys.

It honestly is. I enjoyed driving my 2v, 03 cobra and my 08 a lot more than my coyote. My 5.0 is in another league when it came to speed but it's just boring to drive.

Not fluent with Idk...if you are referring to the 14 GT....Base with TrakPak, Recaro's, the usual Brembo's in front, 13.8" GT500 discs in the rear, Sportlines/with stock TrakPak Struts/shocks, 14 OE GT500 wheels/tires, AED tune with Airaid Intake(came with the car) ISO clutch reservoir and sound tube delete, rear suspension is all Whiteline, adjustable LCA's, UCA, panhard bar, GT500 carrier bushing, OE GT500 twin tip mufflers and rear valance and Shaftmasters Aluminum drive shaft...and 10,300 miles.
The 2008 GT500 is pretty much bone stock.

Oh...Ok, I guess I'd have to agree. I've had the car for just under a year and although when I drive it around people always give the thumbs up and ask questions...I just drove a friends Mini Cooper John Cooper GP car with 2700 miles from Portland to Phoenix and haven't had that much fun driving a car in a long...long time. So, compared to the Mini the TrakPak....well that trip kind of put things in perspective for me!
I know what you are all going to say....I just don't want to spend a ton of money buying a car I'll only drive on occasionally...and I'm not into car payments.

Even if you added those features at least mine is still boring. After driving the Cooper GP the TrakPak feels like it is driving itself rather than you having to drive it. Sure, the way I've got the car setup straight line performance is ok and going through 55mph turns at red line in 5th is a thrill...it's just not exciting.

idk = I don't know

I think part of the problem with boring is lack of "feel"...note:V6/non-racer owner. Performance bargain cool looks/heritage reasonably fast but no steering feel.

In the past 60 some years I've owned a fair share of Mustangs and this 14 is just less fun to drive than any of them...steering????, yes that's certainly part of it...as I said earlier the car drives you...you don't drive it.....IMHO

As more things become electronic assisted or computer controlled the raw driving feel is being removed.

Part of the reason I enjoy my 03 so much. The car reminds you that you could die at any second. I haven't driven a new car that gives the same feel

Yes, the 03 Terminator I bought with 5500 miles is more fun to drive than my mod'd 14 TrakPak....

I had a 97 Cobra and tried to make HP by adding a Kenny Bell SC...after putting 12psi to the motor and broke ring lands on #3 and #7. After rebuilding the motor with good rods and pistons it ran good. I think the weakest part of the 5.4l are the rods I'm just going to be satisfied with this car....if I get it....to remain stock except for bring the rear end down from 4x4 territory.
There are more than a few people on the forum with 600+RWHP...some of them have gone with internal mod's.
