Why so many unsold 2014 Shelby's?

Sure seems like these might have been overpriced to begin with, but even with nearly a $20,000 discount, these are now over 2 years old, and still seem pricey for a solid axle car.
Did anyone actually pay nearly $100,000 for these when new?
These are a LOT of new 2014's still sitting on the lot:

Why I bleed Ford blue I can't pay 70K for a Stang. Unless Shelby himself came with it than I am staying with my good ol' 2011 GT. Not a big chance of him coming with the cars since 2012... I almost cried when I saw 2015 loaded GT packages, muchless 13/14 cars...

Only 5?
Mid $70's is a LOT of money for ANY 2014. Mid $70's brings to mind a LOT of new 2016's, much less two or three year old cars like these that have been emphatically eclipsed by the newer stock models.
The ones in my link above don't even LOOK special or different than any other 2014 V6 or GT. Do they to you?

Well, yes there is that......as well as $300 oil changes. They take a new drain plug and seal ($30) every time, along with 10 quarts of Mobil 1......I wonder how much the extended warranty is on any Porsche?

Not sure but whatever it is it would be worth it. My brothers Tranny went in his Boxter went at around 70k miles. Think it was around $7-8k

They are also known for Intermediate Shaft failure. It's a $1,500 fix if you catch it before it fails, but when it does, it takes the engine with it. So, new short block time, and I can't even guess (OK....$12,00 to $15,000??) what that would cost!

Why would I even think of anything else ???????????

I like my 2012 so much I just don't even think of any other car.
There is absolutely nothing I Do not like about my MCA Red candy Metallic Mustang and after having it sense 2011 I still can not help myself from looking at it.
When I go to a store I always have to turn around and look at my "RED RYDER" before going inside. I still go out into my Garage to see it at lest ten times a day if I don't go out.
This car was "LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT" when I seen it at the dealers lot and It was mine the same day.

I'm making no bones about $70k being a lot of money...just remember these were really a stop gap for the new GT350/GT350R and I think there were only 350 of these made. The stock ones were 525hp and next upgrade was 624hp...with warranty.
A lot of subtle changes like the the exhaust tips are oval and fit into the GT500 rear valance, it had 15" Brembo's up front and 14" Brembo's in the rear, upgraded to GT500 suspension...Granted a lot of money but still a 2014 GT350 Shelby in very limited numbers. Take a look at the prices for a very low mile 2014 GT500 and at least here on The Coast they are in the high $50's to low $60's.
Has anyone priced a 2015/2016 Z06 lately....I could almost buy two of the GT350's for one Z06.....or I guess you could buy two GT350's for 1 Porsche 911 GT3 Coupe....well, if I had the money the Porsche GT3 would be a nice car

Ummmmmmmmm....did you mean to start a different thread?
Very nice car you have there, and I am happy that you are still so in love with it....but what does this have to do with unsold 2014 Shelby's and their outrageous pricing?

The prices the dealers are asking for the "next step" I want to make for my next Mustang has kept me from making that plunge. That, and the current air bag issue. As most may know, I've been on a trail for a 2011 to 2012 Boss, but the prices being asked are outrageous to me.

I guard,
I see what you are saying but I forgot to mention that my dealer had two 2014 Shelby's for me to choose from. One Black and one red and my salesman said I could pick one for about $40,000 and my car out the door.
They were low mileage and traded in on Boss 302's
My Friend Tony bought the Black one and traded in his 3.7 V6 Mustang. I don't know what difference he paid though. A guy from New Smyrna traded in his Camaro on the red one.
I'm guessing they probably went for about $60,000 each.
If I had the Money, I still would not trade my Mustang. If I could have hit the lotto, I would have probably bought the Red one but also kept my 2012.

There are going to be quite a few Shelby's traded in or sold for people wanting the Boss 302's. One good thing about the Shelby's is that most are low miles and never modified.

Ronnie

Yes, they are nice and the price tag for a base model is around $90...so you'd only have to save another $20k or so. The real Viper is the ACR and for that you could buy a very low mile 2014 GT500 and a 2014 GT350....and have enough left over to build a separate garage for them...IMHO

Hmmm; maybe I need to rethink this, and go for a used, clean, low mileage Shelby, then drive the living daylights out of it.

Ronnie knows my 2011 Race Red was no garage queen; in a year and a half, I put over 68K on it, and never left the state of Florida. Daily round trips from Lake Mary (close to Daytona) to Tampa, and the weekend tracking kept a large smile on my face. A Boss (or maybe a Shelby) would no doubt cause me to drool like a teething one year old.

Now that's what I'm talking about sir. Good for you. Glad to hear a story like this about actually driving it. Its a car. They are meant to be driven. I love how people never drive their Gt500's, 5.0's, Roush 427, etc like its some super rare collectors car and worth millions or mid 6 figures.

I know people with extensive car collections. It seems the more rare the car the bigger the itch to drive them.

GT350, GT500KR vert (1 of 1), etc.

Speaking for myself my cars don't get driven often purely from a time standpoint.

There are a lot of people that just collect cars and a lot of people drive their cars. If you have more than one car it's not a matter of not wanting to drive them it's finding the time. For my 14 TrakPak I'm not about to buy a second set of wheels and tires just to drive in the rain....the F1's on the car are just not wet weather tires....for me that's just throwing money away...plus I don't like driving in the rain/snow anyway.....that's what the DD is for, and if your Mustang is your DD that's ok too.
I can appreciate you loving to drive your car so please don't belittle people who don't....IMHO

I completely understand if its some super rare 500k collectors car but most these 5.0, and modern Gt500's are not 500k cars. Heck, there not 200k cars There not super rare and by the time they are 75 years old, you, me and everyone on here will be dead.

Even the 12 to 14 Boss will most likely not be some 200k car.

I don't think the Bosses are really that expensive right now. I paid 34k for mine with 7000 miles on it. I've seen some with more miles for even less. I bought mine to drive so not to worried about value but I will say this you see fewer Bosses on the road than anything else.

Why so many unsold 2014 Shelby's?

Too many cars that will take years to sell, if they even sell at all. So many better cars for sale in that price range. That kind of cash I'd save up for a T/A Viper.

Pick your poison.

That's a lot of money for those. I thought they were GT 500's at first glance. You have to keep in mind too that dealer is located in Vegas they probably bought an assload of them to sell to people who win money. I don't think that there are Too many dealers like that. There are no new ones sitting on lots around me.

The Shelbys are sitting because anyone who actually gives a **** about driving one isn't going to spend that sort of money for one of those. They are GROSSLY overpriced like... bad... They will also lose to a lightly modded base model GT which you could do for $30-$40k less...
