New GT 350R SOUNDLY beats current Z28..........

There is a new Motor Trend Head to Head video road test of the new GT350R against the old Z28. The Shelby kicks the Z28's rear on the track, on the street and on the drag strip.
I tried to post the link, but could not find it yet on Youtube. It is the best 1/2 an hour I've spent in a long time, and REALLY shows off the exhaust note on the Shelby.
LISTEN TO IT WITH HEADPHONES FOLKS!

Hmmmmmmmmm..............and you don't think that an 8,500 rpm flat plane crank V8 that sounds like that "stands out?"
Just standing still, the old plastic-fantastic of the Cavalier quality Z28 interior would turn me off before I ever drove it.
For that matter --- what "stands out" about the Z28, other than you can't see out of it?

A lot more potential.
I respect the GM guys more. They build real cars vs 70% of mustang owners who do the same crap

Do you own a "not real" Mustang...........and if so....................why?
FYI............GM is offering nearly $20,000 off brand new Z28's right now.

More potential? What in the world would you modify on the Z28 so that it could "keep up" with the GT350R?
Both are pretty maxed out right from the factory --- and the purpose of this thread was to give Ford credit for benchmarking the Z28 and SOUNDLY kicking its little rear.................which they did in spades.

The grass is always greener on the other side. Mustang or Camaro they are both cars with their own strenths and weaknesses. There isn't much more you can do to one that you cant do to the other.

I admire any car company that produces a well engineered performance car.
That being said, GM took Bailout money while Ford said "No Thank you" and that was it for me. I'll bleed Blue forever on that one. There is more to a car company than nuts and bolts.

I don't know if this test was really fair, testing the new 350R against the aging, heavy Camaro.
IF GM does another Z28 on the new chassis, and its 300 or more pounds lighter, I expect the Camaro to put up a better battle --- likely a win?
Every road test of the new Camaro I've read so far RAVES about the steering and the handling. It will be interesting to see if they do another Z28 or something similar with the new platform.

First pony car with a flat plane crank
8200rpm stock
Carbon Fiber wheels
Magnetic ride suspension

That's not unique?

Good points.............but I can't even imagine, if they are available in the catalogue, what those carbon fiber wheels are going to sell for.................$1000 each?

Ford released pricing for them. Essentially they want to keep them exclusive to the GT350Rs so they priced them at $26k for all 4 wheels. Which of course is absurd, but they did it on purpose.

I've asked B4...what does a Carbon Fiber rim sound like when it's curbed?

I'm sure if you own a GT350R and need new wheels they will sell them to you for a different price. The price they actually cost and not an inflated one to keep exclusivity.

I'd buy either car if I had that kind of money to blow. I'm not exsclusive to ford.

I'd really have to drive both. The Z/28 is a purebred race car. The GT350 and GT350R still do have some creature comforts to them, so while they are compared against each other they technically aren't a completely even comparison.

I deleted some posts...they were not bad but the site does not allow much discussion of politics. We allow some leeway in the Bar section but none in the car/tech sections.

thx for understanding....
