You posted a picture of a gauge showing 21 and said look at my pyrometer. 21 on a digital pyrometer is 2100 degrees, presumably Fahrenheit. Generally if you go above 1800F in a gas engine you are on the brink of damaging the engine.

Doesn't make any difference whether it is diesel gauge or not, temperature is temperature. Different applications may have a different range but if you are in the range of the gauge 2100F is 2100F.

Why all of a sudden are you saying the temperature is lower than the picture of the gauge you posted?

Yourca comedian! Forged pistons don't get holes! Are you smoking something you shouldn't be?

Before you accuse someone if smoking something they shouldn't you really should check the facts. Aluminum melts at approximately 1200F +/- 100 or so degrees depending on the alloy. It doesn't make any difference if it is in cast or forged form. It is a real danger that sustained exhaust temps in the 2100F range can result in a holed piston. It is not 2 psi of boost that is going hole the piston, it's the lean condition from not adding more fuel to support the boost and/or the detonation from to much timing for the boost level.

Speaking of smoking something you have installed an aftermarket waste gate that the manufacturer states you need a tune for it to be a benefit without a tune, you removed the O2 sensor that's necessary for the ECU to control the mixture and now you have mucked with the stock waste gate and removed the pre-load necessary to keep the waste gate closed. BTW, the only way you can get increased boost by removing the pre-load is you have bent or jammed something in the linkage or damage the diaphragm in the can.

For the life of me I can't understand why you are so willing to risk your engine doing bad mods but are so resistant to modding the engine the right way with a tune. Before you were band from the ecoboostmustang forum you proclaimed constantly about how you were personal friends with John Lund of Lund Racing, if that is true why haven't you had him hook you up with a tune? Then the HP claims you love to make could be substantiated and he could easily make the tune adjustments to take advantage of that Turbosmart waste gate too instead of selling it off for 20 bucks.

In regards to the temperature its OK! The factory tune commands down to 10:0 A/F, so not to worry! The ECU would never allow the temp to get out if hand! I'm sure not too many people have a pyrometer installed! I'm only running 2psi of boost over stock, so thanks for your concern!

The 21 you see is the boost gauge! The pyrometer is the gauge on the bottom! LOL! Sorry about that Dgc333! Your a cool guy, and I don't want to get on your bad side!

I didn't read your whole post, but I'm going to now! Stand by friend!

OK, I read the whole thing and your not trying to cause problems, you are generally concerned! It was a mist communication! Yeah the top gauge is the boost gauge! The 21 is 21psi

I really like you know, showing that much concern for my engine! I apologize for saying you were smoking something!

The temp never goes past 1200F even at 22psi at least not more than 1250F! Sorry for the mis- communication Dgc333!!!

Oh yeah, in regards to Jon Lund, he knows me by the name MSP! He offered to email me custom tunes for my Vortech V2 setup on my S197 V6 4.0 back in 2006! I won a raffle on the website TheMustamgSource.com from Vortech! They used my car for 2 months to design the kit! I was the first person in the world to have a supercharged 4.0 Mustang V6! It made 350HP and put down 298whp!

Jon Lund and I used to talk on that website! Anyways Dgc333 me and you are cool, so don't worry, thanks for trying to protect my engine!

Hey guys I put 2 more turns on the wastegate and made the wastegate a little tighter! The result is getting to 22psi before 80mph in 4th gear! So I'm going to be ok ,cause the TQ makes the car push to the left now! So I have to hold the steering wheel a little tighter! 368ft lbs is a lot of TQ! The car is fast guys, I'm not joking!

Me and you have our differences because you love the Ecoboost so much you want to see it dip into the 13's! It will tomorrow, then I'll eat some pancakes for you! LOL!!

I saw it!
Just don't break the car before you have a chance to put it on the track and get a solid number!

That's why I posted a picture of the gauges so you can see there is no check engine light! Everything is safe, don't worry! She can handle 35psi no problem!

10 second Ecoboost 6spd manual @ 35psi!!

He might be built! But the stock engine is good enough! Boost is soft, not like nitrous! Nitrous hits harder than turbo boost, its much harder on the engine! Turbo boost pressure is sustained by the head gasket and bolts! The exhaust cushions the load on the crankshaft and rods and pistons!

Hey! Do you guys think I should short shift 3rd to get to 4th quicker, then ride it out? Or should I tach out 3rd?

I can get to 22psi before 80mph in 4th! I have enough TQ to short shift! What do you guys think? Only going to make 1 pass! So this is important!

That M3 in the last race was FAST! Holy cow!
I didn't think that a BMW could do that!

That was pretty cool that Ecoboost broke into the tens. And the owner said that the engine is built.
I wonder if he leaves with full boost? It seems like he doesn't hit the limiter until the yellow lights are on??

The Ecoboost holds rpm! Yep press the gas and hold it, and it will eventually hold rpm without a limiter! I just found this out a few days ago! So I should make a good 60ft using this method! The only trick is you must do it within 5 seconds or the computer will cancel the run! I'll take a pic of it holding at 4000rpm watch!

Actually the 5 second time limit is not a problem, just set the rpm where you want it, then hit (Begin)! So not a problem!

Oh. Ok. It just seems like he was leaving kinda late using that technique.

I'm still a little stunned about that beamer... A damned Super Snake won't run a 9 MSP!
What do you think that M3 had done to it???

In regards to the M3 in stock off the showroom floor they are a TwinTurbo 3.0L V6 with 444HP and a curb weight of only 3651lbs! 3851lbs race weight! With a custom tune I'm sure they get to 600 to 750HP with larger turbos!

I was referring to a Ecoboost with 35 psi.

Even with a lot of power that M3 sure did hook right up and leave! I wonder if that is just the stock suspension?

OMG!! Straybullit! With a race weight of 3851lbs, the M3 was at 1025whp to trap out at 150mph!

Check for yourself! Oh man! That's vicious Straybullit! Nice catch!!

That's what I'm saying! That thing is nasty!

I wonder if it is as simple as just using bigger turbos and the necessary supporting mods, or if you need to have a built short block to make that kind of power?
In any case, that's pretty impressive!

You really only need to make your car fast enough to take down a stock M3 that you would meet on the boulevard.

No! Those BMW engines come from the faxte ready to go! He had to have used much larger turbos! That's obvious! To make 1025whp, you need 1179 Flywheel HP! I'm sure he put at least twin 67mm turbos on it! Maybe Twin 57mm turbos! BMW's are not to be taken lightly! Especially there Inline 6 Twin Turbo M4! That thing will get squirrley on a GT500 if the GT500 is not careful! Comes stock with 425HP! But with a tune it kills things! LOL! I've always had respect for BMW's!

What I love about the Ecoboost is they made it a track car! Drag Strip dedicated, but road course ready! I'm going to eventually go to Sears Point and Laguna Seca to see how it feels on a road course! The twin turbos with FMIC will be awesome on a road course! Like Porsche's!
