Re: catalytic converter

If you have emissions then id just buy some mac hi flos and swap them out. If you dont have emissions then buy an off road pipe and swap it in your garage or driveway since its simple to do with basic handtools. Heck even with emissions you can go to an off road pipe. Just tune the car to kill the code and weld up heat shields to pass visual.

Re: catalytic converter

i found a shop that wants me to bring the car by this w/e and he will offer advise based on his 30+ years of experience of racing and building vettes and mustangs. he said when i leave, i will be satisfied with the sound and quality. i think i will give him a chance or at least listen to what he has to say.

Re: catalytic converter

I'll post pics and whatever advise he give. I'm already upset before I make it to the muffler shop. I ordered ROUSH tips from ROUSH performance about a week ago and just discovered that they were delivered to the wrong address and signed for by some random dude. So now I have to go harass UPS about dropping the ball with my merchandise...

Thanks Scott! I hope its not too much either..

Re: catalytic converter

Pre obd2 you can get away with it,,but the newer computers have o2 sensors after the cat,,youll have a engine light all the time,,po420..Now alot of tuners have the capabilities to turn the back o2s off..Plus you can use a resister to fool the computer,,i heard,,keeps the millivolts high and steady on the o2s which keeps the computer from throwing the code

---------- Post added at 09:21 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:19 AM ----------

You can gut them and keep them,,that way youll pass the visual,,during emissions

Well you probably guessed that I didn't go to the muffler shop because my tips are not scheduled to arrive here until Monday. I have a friend that has a handheld that will clear the code. Billy at the muffler shop just asked that I come when I get the ROUSH tips and he'll fill me in on some things that worked for him over the years.

I would like to start by saying the muffler guy is full of crap! I bought the car about a month ago from a guy that didn't know what to do with money. I didn't know the cats were removed. (shoulda checked-I know) Well, muffler man asked why would I cut them off. I told him it was bought like that. He made a comment about what he would never do... Anyway, he says the car should have 4 cats and he wants 900.00 for putting them on. My question is, how many do I need and about how much should it cost?

---------- Post added at 01:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:30 PM ----------

Another question-can I get by with one on each side and get it tuned to clear the code.

I'm in MS. Thinking about bypassing the code. I'll check out eBay first.

Muffler man has crappy customer service. I don't know how he is still in business. He had 2 other guys there, but he's the only one that can weld.
