JLT OIL Separator install 2013 RS3

Installed my JLT Oil Separator today. Simple ten minute install

1. Disconnect factory hose at blower end
2. Rotate this factory hose straight up
3. Connect new straight hose and oil separator to blower
4. You can mark old hose where it needs to be cut by holding it up to new oil
separator
5. Slide clamp on old hose and hook up

JLT OIL Separator install 2013 RS3

I put them on our 2013 GT500 and didn't need to do any cutting for either side.

OIL SEPARATORS

My Question to all you guys is: Do you need two of those, one for each side of the car? And do they really work or are worth it for a Car with No Supercharger, Turbo Charger or Nitrous? My Car is a 4.6 GT.

Hi KATO

Only one was necessary on my 2012 Boss 302 and using only one on my 2013 Supercharged Roush. It definitely works on these two late model cars.....If I were
thinking about it for your 4.6 I would call JLT company and ask questions. It also makes a big difference which side you put it on if only doing one. Just do a computer search for "JLT oil seperator" and read up on them and then call them about your 4.6

p.s. Really cool looking car you have

+1...you really only need the passenger side...the driver side will be nearly dry at all times and is a waste of $$$

I should clarify...my info was based on 5.0 and 5.8 engines. I'm not sure if the 4.6 would be any different from what I've read.

Good Info, did you have them on 1 side or both sides of Engine?

I heard "Scotty 1", but look at what all he wrote down in his statement. Nothing.

Here is after 5500 miles on my '14 Shelby...it's about 4 ounces of oil. 80-85% of the miles were on the highway at 65-80 mph...if you haven't installed one yet, highly recommend you do so and prevent your intake from being coated with oil.

Man, my separator never collects that much oil. But the other side of the tube stay dry so I assume nothing's getting by. I guess forced induction really pulls that oil out of the valve case.

In one word...insurance. Very difficult to get an insurance company to cover a Roush...insurance companies only want to cover a car by the VIN only.

It also depends on your oil can...I'm using the new JLT and it's great.

I'm using a JLT also. I've had it for a few years. Have they revised it since then?

Yes...you can contact JLT about getting an upgraded version. The new version has a screen in the lid of the catch can and this helps convert the oil from vapor form to liquid and collect it in the can.

Installed the JLT over the weekend. Installation was easy enough and with a little over 40 miles its already catching some oil. Wish i installed it sooner.
