Roush CAI

Had this in wrenching but thought you guys may have more experience with this particular part.

Seems my inlet air temp skyrocketed after putting on a Roush CAI this weekend (no tune). The compartment seems to seal against the hood ok. I'm in Louisiana and it's pretty hot down here. Temps start out as normal 80-90 or so, but after sitting in traffic, I'm around 135 or so in the morning. I know sitting I'm not getting any airflow, and it does rapidly decrease once I get up to 45mph or so.

I can't remember what my gauge read with the stock air box. Anyone in the south in a humid climate, can you tell me what yours is reading as of late in a similar commute? 5.0 automatic.

From what I have heard it will hurt your engine without a tune. That's just what I heard bud.

Correct they advertise that no tune is required. For you guys with R2's and above, is this the same CAI that is installed? Any similar readings?

If it helps anyone avoid this in the future, I ended up returning the intake. It was reaching 70 plus degrees higher than outside temps. American Muscle is fantastic with RMAs as usual.

That humidity down there probably doesn't help much. What was the stock temp?

Stock temp max is about 18-20 degrees higher than external when stopped.

Well sounds like the stock box is clearly the way to go for you.

AEM makes a closed box CAI. Curious to know if anyone uses it and how well it performs.

Looks like a good design. I don't see a way it could be worse than stock

I just put in the JLT CAI and SCT Tune in my 2014 RS3 Automatic we flashed it three times on the Dyno and making 675 hp at the crank. I live in south Florida with the same humid temp my gauge is steady at the half mark.
mark. Only have had à slight computer issue but the people at Blow By Racing have gotten iT fixed.
