2014 Roush. Not happy with 1/4 mile times. Help.

I got a 2014 roush stage 3 about a month and a half ago. Car is powerful and fast. And feels a lot faster then a 5.0 base mustang... But I went to the strip and the best time a ran was a 12.8... I was disappointed because a stock E92 M3 and a Stock Mustang Gt run that.. And I looked every where it seems like all the high top magazines are running 12.9.?. Like how it's Almost 600hp... Is it all in the tiers.?. Let me know what some of you guys run and how I can get up there more.. Click image for larger version

Not putting your car down, but going to give you the honest truth. A basic bolton 5.0 is faster than you are Everytime. The reason for this is the roush tune.

Roush ' s tune is verry conservative and slow. Get a different tune and a good set of tires.

The roush tune sucks, it is what is making your car slow.
A regular 5.0 with a good tune and exhaust will pull the paint off your roush.

You need to look into a aftermarket tune. Weather it be a dyno tune from a reputable shop or a tune from VMP, AED, Lund, etc

#'s do not matter, unless your looking for bragging rights.

It's your tune not your HP.

They give you a verry verry safe tune from roush, to keep warranty from them, Gas mileage, longevity. Etc
Which in turn makes the car slow

From roush, unfortunately yes.
I had a 08 stage 3 427r b4 my coyote, I know what your going through bud, I let the car stay on the roush tune for about a week.

If you go with a good shop/tune you will have no worries. VMP is the best for roush blown cars.

Rap is spot on with his advise! Most factory cars (with a blower or N/A) come with a super conservative tune for reasons rap mentioned above. You don't want a noob behind the wheel of a 600 hp monster for obvious reasons. As for dyno numbers, I'm more than certain you're going to be around 560-85 with an aftermarket tune. As much as peak hp gains, you're gonna love your new power under the curve. Just to get an idea what I'm talking about, check out BAMA's gt500 build on YouTube.

Ps: don't go with BAMA for your tune though lol I'm just referring you to a YouTube video that shows how our factory blown mustangs respond to an aftermarket tune.

No I believe you, but a time slip can potentially show where your issue lies. Yes Rap is right by saying you will benefit greatly from a tune, but cutting a decent launch and 60' will also knock a couple tenths off of it

Yeah... My RS3 stock did like a 12.1 something on drag radials but it's an auto trans. Same night there was a guy doing 11.7's with my same set up but different wheel/tire set up, still drag radials. All he had different was a tune... Went to get mine tuned and put 460rwhp SAE down stock and 510 after just a tune. These cars are severely limited by the roush tune.

Hey man tune voiding warranty will depend on the dealer you go to. I would call your dealer up and ask what they are okay with

I guess I voided it? Luckily I haven't had a problem yet so I haven't had to use my warranty. I used a local dyno tune for my car, Tuners Inc.

It voids your warranty through roush directly. Not the dealership

The car I traded in for my roush ran faster times than my roush with the stock tune. It was a little depressing haha.

Tbh man it's your 60 foot. That's ***. Get off the throttle and feather it. You can run low 12 high 11s if you do it ell and shift fast

Another thing to consider is you have a 500 Hp car with street tires, do you have any experience driving a high hp car? At those power levels the driver mod will probable do more then a tune. I've always said that for how much hp cars come with now a days people done understand how much power 4-500 hp is. Don't know how to drive you will get beat by a good driver with a car with less hp. Just because you buy a car that can run 11s don't mean that anyone can drive it to those times.

My roush did a 12.1 with a 1.9 60ft on drag radials :/ Not really sure how to drop my 60ft unless I stall the car. That's the one good thing about a manual, you can drive them harder. An auto just is what it is...
