Solutions to wheel spin

I started a thread on who I should get my mods and tune from. From opinions and my own research I decided to go with vmp tuning. Now I see a lot of conversations on putting the power to the pavement, wheel spin etc. I'm running on cooper rs3 20's for my street tire. From what I gather this is "not gonna cut it" . So my ? Is what would be a good street tire mod combo? Do I need to change my gear ratio, differential? I want to keep my car a daily driver so with gas consumption and ride quality in mind what would be the best setup for me? I just want to enjoy cruising my awesome mustang but if a situation came for a street Race I want to eat up my opponite😈😈

What is your gear ratio now? I'm pretty interested in this thread. I have subscribed. I know most will say to change suspension and go with Michelin pilots or something comparable. Since I have changed my throttle body, I can break loose in 1st-5th it seems almost at anytime. I've done a lot of suspension already and will get new tires soon. I hope that fixes it.

And, you can't talk street racing. It's very dangerous and frowned upon. Not to mention. Illegal. Lol

I have a roush stage 3... Not sure what the suspension setup is but I would imagine that I don't need to go with a diff setup.

I have a 14 Stage 3 as well. Actually Roush does not upgrade all your suspension, so you probably have to alter somewhat. You can see my mods in signature, they helped a ton!! but traction is still an issue. Not nearly as bad as before, but still nothing to brag about. i think the BMR LCA's with relocation brackets helped a lot. When I did that I also got the BMR sway bar and panhard. A t the end of the day 20's are not the best wheel/tire combo if you are looking to hook. If you do end up switching wheel set up, just make sure what you get will fit over your big brakes

The stock Pirelli are not very sticky. I even went to 285/40-19's and not much improvement. Just had rear wheels widened to 10.5 and will be running 305/30-19 michelin pilot sport PS2's. I have a track pac with ford Whipple supercharger and have most rear suspension mods.

Relocation brackets....if the car is lowered at all the geometry will be effed up.
Make sure at ride height the lower control arms are flat to the ground or point slightly up to the front of the car. Unless this is right, nothing else will ever be no matter how much money you throw at it.

I must have missed that part. I have over 600 as well and pretty much nothing but slicks will solve that....but like I said, if the rear geometry isn't right, nothing else will be either.

I would be happy to put you in contact with our suspension build experts according to your budget, driving style & long-term goals.

It is difficult to tell you exactly what you need without knowing all of the other details, like mentioned above.

You can reach me at tim@steeda.com if you would like to be contacted by a build expert & also work in forum pricing.

Best Regards,

TJ

I'm only guessing here but I'd be surprised if it was really 600 rwhp.
Most of the after market builders use crank HP because its a bigger number. Basically, subtract 100 from crank to get rear wheel HP and it gets you close.
Or do the math and it's crank X .85 and you get 510 rwhp.

Solutions to wheel spin

Still better looking than them, to me at least. Then again you could always coyote swap it. And build some ridiculous set up. Twins and supercharged and nitrous.

It already makes more power than any street tire can handle.
I am lowering the boost and going road racing with it

Probably the biggest reason I think it's the coolest car on the forum. You run what 10s in the quarter? Then pullie swap and then fly through corners. Basically the car is built for both, or at least do both.

Thunder hill, is that a strip or course? Sorry, I'm on the other side of the country; so it's basically a name to me.

I need to check it out. I'm hoping that I can make the event at the Corvette track in Bowling Green in September. Car is a long way before it's ready. Definitely needs a few more mods before I'd take it out on the track.
