3.4" pulley!

I'm looking to get the 3.4" pulley for my 06 s281 and would like to know if there's anybody running that size pulley and what's the rest of you're set up like and how's it running? Really need some advice on what all I need and what I should go with thanks!

Re: 3.4" pulley!

are you talking about supercharger pulley related or what exactly? If its supercharger related and it will raise the boost its best to get it checked, if it raises the boost by more than 1-2psi you will probably require a re-tune to be safe else you risk blowing up the car~

the limit on those motors isnt much unless its the S281-E, otherwise try not to go past 450rwhp.

Yes I'm talking about the supercharger pulley. And I am gonna get it re-tuned. I was also wanting to know what all I have to change/upgrade if I go with a 3.4" pulley?

Re: 3.4" pulley!

If you already have the 39lb injectors, you need a boost a pump or fuel pump upgrade and a tune. What size pulley are you running now?

Re: 3.4" pulley!

Then you just need fuel pump or BAP and tune for the 3.4 and your good to go.

That's just how much the engine itself can take before it goes kaboom...

Re: 3.4" pulley!

450 whp seems to be the number. There's alot of guys running more with no issues as long as you have a good tune.

Re: 3.4" pulley!

I'm running a 3.4 pulley and am probably around 450 whp. 475 kit is crank hp.You'll be fine with the 3.4. Like I said before there's lots of guys running 3.0,2.8 with no problem. If your worried about it go to the 3.6 then you just need a tune. Have you done the vacuum line upgrade? it makes a big difference when you see boost.

I found it and my car does not have it like the pic shows. What exactly does it do if you hook it up like that?

Re: 3.4" pulley!

It gives you boost sooner. Now you dont get boost till WOT. Give it a shoot, it'll cost $10 for a piece of hose a tee and cap.

Nice! About the amount of hp the motor can handel I guess there's nothing you can upgrade or change to where it could hold more power?

Re: 3.4" pulley!

You have to go to forged bottom end. Something else you need I forgot to mention, is a SCT tuner.

Re: 3.4" pulley!

Then your set, the tuner the most expensive part. Hopefully they've changed the JLT Series 3 heatsheild. I had to do some cutting on mine to get the hood to close.

I guess since the motor can only handel about 450rwhp the motor does not have forged pistons?

Re: 3.4" pulley!

I would recommend against capping the boost bypass. Other s/c cars have had issues with spikes causing other issues.

No forged internals.Your not capping the boost bypass. If you call Brenspeed or any tuner that specialize in Saleen blowers for a tune one of their questions will be, have you done the vacuum line upgrade?

Do I need to buy the vacuum upgrade kit or just buy the parts myself?

Re: 3.4" pulley!

GT mustangs generally can take more than 450rwhp but I would try not to go past that for my daily driver. Maybe now and again at the track stick in a more aggressive tune or something, better to be a bit safer than to risk blowing up the motor since you engine is not built to take as much abuse. Just a safety net.

My friend's 06 GT has 480rwhp and its fine, just most say 450 is a good spot to aim for.

The guys at brenspeed told me with an intake, tune, 3.6 pulley that it's a good reliable set up. They also said anything after that is just driving on narrowed time.... That is if you drive like me.

Re: 3.4" pulley!

a good dyno tune is the most important part of course, it has to be spot on and have wiggle room
