How often Are you going to track it?
And then you have to find a dealer that will sell one for Msrp, unless you don't care about paying ADM's.
I track 2-5 times a year and would have gotten an LS, but all the dealers I called wanted between 5&20k over sticker. Got my Boss at MSRP and love it!ive had her on the track 3 times in a year 4 if you count Track attack and for my intermediate skill I usually have a blast at the events!

Picked up my 2013 "GHIG" Boss Friday for MSRP. What an amazing driving machine

The sound is fantastic (restrictors removed from side exhaust). Engine is smooth, and pretty torquey. Pulls strong right up to 7500.

Re: New boss 302

Got any tips for an aggressive 1-2 shift? I have missed the gate a few times now. Not used to the MT-82's 1-2 shift. Do I need to pull to the left while pulling down? Feels like I am hitting the 2/4 gate finger I think?? The more I miss it, the more it worries me everytime I am ready to make the yank. I am almost losing sleep over it LOL.... 2-3 is super nice though. Haven't missed it yet.

the stock shifter has some slop in it. I haven't done it yet but I know a few people have changed to the mgw shifter. The gates are setup for 3-4 straight up & down. Pull left for 1st & 2nd. Right for 5th & 6th. I've also find she does not like to be rushed. Try to be as smooth as possible.

We also have a facebook page Boss Mustangs owners Association & tons of info on
Bossmustangsonline.com <- more dedicated to Boss specific info

Mgw is a definite on my list of mods

Re: New boss 302

I noticed the spring keeps the shifter centered in the 3/4 gate. I will try some more left pressure coming down from first into second next time.

You will get used to it.

Do you plan on tracking and/or drag strip? Have you ever been on a track?

Have the same GOTTA HAVE IT GREEN BOSS. Restrictor plates removed and TRACKey installed. Had lots of compliments and pictures taken. Even had an officer pull me over to take a look at it and we talked Mustangs on the side of the highway for 30 mins. Congrats on the BOSS. What's your serial number on the motor? I got super lucky with #73.

#540.

I rarely use the track key. I do not see/feel any advantage of it so far. My fastest 0-60 times have been with the standard key also.

Re: New boss 302

The Track Key is worth it just for shifting alone! The standard key and shifting was/is a real pain, but when I got the track key installed, it was a different car!

I now only use the "Red" key when driving my Boss! I suffer at the pumps, but she's a weekend gal anyway, so I don't really mind all that much! LOL

Re: New boss 302

Considering buying a used 12 Boss. What is the true story about the track key. I have nbeen told that you need to send the key to Ford to have it programmed. Is that true. If the key has not been programmed will it still operate the car, but not activate the track mode tuning?
Thanks,
John

If key not been programed the ford dealer has to install program. It cost $302 for program and a service charge. You can still use red key just won't change anything

Well hopefully it's been installed. If not spend the money to have it done it's worth it

You know, I am starting to feel like I should be driving around with the track key in all the time too lol. The other day I lined up at a light with an S63 AMG (TT V8 563HP 664TQ) and he was about half a car on me through 3rd (which I completely missed and ended the race...). With track key I would have had him. Although earlier that day I took out a Bmw X5 M (another TT 8 cylinder 555hp).

You mean there really is a silver key? After using the red key I could never go back plus it's still covered by the warranty. Have you been to Track Attack yet? Well worth the the experience, Ford racing did it right!

Re: New boss 302

The key had been activated. There is a message on the tack that tells you the key is active. I drove it home from Newark Delaware to South Jersey. It was about an hour drive on intersate holding the splitter with my right hand.
When I got home, I took it out for a run. The car is scary. I can't wait to track it!!

Re: New boss 302

the Boss LS will cost you much more (and probably have a dealer added price....) so if you dont want to pay the extra just go with the non LS boss, also dont pay over sticker.
