Boss 302 HP gains with exhaust

Hi Guys,

I have had the Boss LS for a little over a week and am interested in knowing what the benefits are of replacing the stock exhaust with after market. Kooks sells a system that goes all the way from headers thru the cat back and mufflers. They have an H pipe that allows the retention of the side exhaust.
Any thoughts?

Thanks,
John

I would think that your stock LS exhaust is pretty free flowing, but the aftermarket set up should free up some horsepower. It should have smoother bends than stock, and larger diameter tubing to help your engine exhale easier. You may want to buy a hand held tuner along with an exhaust setup to maximize your power gains though.

You get about 50 HP with no cats. Not sure about with the high flow cats they have.

Thanks, I talked to a rep from Kooks. He said about 18hp with their set up which was headers all the way back. Seems to be a really expensive way to get 18hp. ($2,500). American muscle has a good video where they do a before and after dyno run. That includes a tune and new hiflow intake.
Hp always costs $$$$

139 dollars per 1hp. Damn! At least it will sound meaner.
